Chapter 6
Fiona POV
Andy doesn’t move from the doorway when he spots us, his eyes jumping back and forth between me and Nolan. Part of me wants
to crawl into myself and hide while the other, angrier part, wants to lean into Nolan and show Andy that I’ve moved on from his
lying, cheating ass.
I know what he sees. Nolan standing between my legs while a wide suit jacket sits on my shoulders. I don’t have to look down to
Nolan’s arm still tightly wrapped around my waist, but I can’t help it when my eyes slide to his lips that are still only inches away from my own lips.
The hand cupped at the back of my neck doesn’t move; in fact, I feel it tighten a bit, keeping me in place as Nolan glares at Andy.
In all, the scene is an extremely suggestive one.
The longer he looks at us, the gloomier Andy’s face becomes. His lips turn down in a frown, but he doesn’t have any right to be
upset. Not after what he did.
Before Andy can question the circumstances, Nolan pulls me to my feet and quickly adjusts the jacket around me, so that I’m
completely covered. He then moves between Andy and I, blocking Andy’s vision of me. I barely notice the irritated tick of Nolan’s
jaw which I decide not to comment on.
“Is this your office?” Nolan questions, his eyes still locked on Andy.
“I’m sorry, sir?” The confusion in Andy’s tone also flows through me at Nolan’s question. What is he getting at?
“It’s polite to knock when requesting entrance to a space that does not belong to you.”
Biting my lip, I peer up at the little sliver of Nolan’s face I can see. His cool tone relays that he’s not fully happy with Andy barging
in, but it doesn’t necessarily communicate anger either. However, Andy doesn’t pick up on the subtle difference because he
flounders nervously.
It almost brings me joy as Andy waves his arms in the air worriedly.
“I apologize, King Nolan,” Andy says quickly, bowing his head before laughing and joking, “I didn’t know you would have a lady
friend here!”
A shiver of disgust rolls over me. His words make it sound like we were doing something dirty in here, when we weren’t. It’s also
extremely clear Andy is trying to act like nothing happened.
Nolan, ignoring the crass comment, turns to me and lays a hand on my back. I look up at him again in time to see him flick his
eyes toward the door to silently let me know to leave first.
Without waiting for my response, he then turns back to Andy.
Collecting myself, I straighten my back- because I did nothing wrong- and make my way to the door. I do my best to keep my

expression blank and to not look at Andy or Nolan. There is nothing for me here.
“This has nothing to do with you,” Nolan states, his tone turning icy. “What is your business?”

I can feel the weight of Andy’s eyes leave me, which I will admit has me turning to glance back at the two of them. The curt expression on Andy’s face surprisingly doesn’t make me feel anything as I pass him. The pain I felt previously is dull and almost unnoticeable.
I guess spending my night with Nolan really did the trick. I have no more good feelings toward Andy due to his treachery, and if possible, I’d like to never see him again.
Leaving that office is probably the best thing, so I slip out the door before I can hear their conversation. Andy is no longer my problem just as I’m no longer his.
The office is quiet as I sit back down in my desk chair. No one talks to me or even looks at me, which, honestly, is fine with me. Mary is gone and the office’s atmosphere is already calmer. The scent of a sweet candle floats through the air, accompanied by light music that plays behind the phone calls and clicks of various keyboards.
