What came after was simple.
Ethan used those photos in court as proof Nathaniel had cheated during the marriage.
We were granted the divorce.
On the day we signed the papers, Nathaniel asked,
“Vivianne, do you still love me?”
I shook my head.
He gave a bitter smile.

When I walked outside, Ethan was already waiting by the car.
He opened the door for me, and I noticed a pot of hyacinths sitting in the passenger seat.
Their meaning?
Letting go of the past, starting fresh.
I stared at them, caught off guard.
Ethan nudged me.
“Come on. We’re going to the hospital.”
“What? Why?”
“I scheduled your surgery. I’ve got time off–I’ll be taking care of you.”
“How much time off?”
“Until you’re discharged.”
