Chapter 6
At this point, I couldn’t stand it any longer. I was human, after all, and I had my limits!
George frowned and reached forward to grab my arm, but Jonah stepped in his way.
Expression darkening, George growled, “Get out of the way!”
Before Jonah could respond, I spoke up first. “George, what Jonah said earlier was the truth. You have no right to ask him to step
aside because he’s my fiancé.”
George took a step back, staring at me in disbelief. A lost and helpless look flashed in his eyes, but then he shook his head. “Mary,
you’re still angry with me, aren’t you? You’re deliberately using this man to piss me off, right? I can apologize! I’m sorry, Mary,
so please stop saying he’s your fiancé. You can only ever be my wife!”
I laughed mockingly and pointed a finger at Winona. “Your wife is Winona Sunther, and she’s right there!”
George grew agitated and yelled, “Mary, my marriage to Winnie is fake. I told you this already. You have to believe me!”
Winona waddled over with a hand on her stomach. She tugged on George’s arm, a pleading look in her eyes as she begged,
“George, our wedding rehearsal isn’t over yet, so let’s go back. The staff is still waiting for us.”
However, George violently shoved her away, causing her to stumble. She clutched her belly, her expression twisting into a pained
grimace.
George stalked closer to Winona, his eyes gleaming with murderous intent. “Winona, have I ever mistreated you? Why did you
frame Mary? And you even got me involved!”
Shocked and terrified, Winona said fearfully, “George, don’t be like that. My stomach hurts…”
George scoffed. “Even now, you’re still pretending?”
Staring at the fierce scowl marring George’s face, Winona retreated in a panic. Her hands flew down to protect her belly.
George turned to look at me once more.
“Mary, I’ve already helped you teach Winona a lesson, so stop being angry, okay? Let’s reconcile.”
Nonetheless, I remained unmoved, merely staring at him with frosty eyes.
Seeing that, George finally panicked.
