My captain husband promised me he’d only be there for his childhood sweetheart during her depression–just 99 times.
But when I counted up to 99, I saw them wrapped in each other’s arms.[]
That day, I stopped begging him not to go to her.]
I just asked him for a christening charm, something for the baby I was about to bring into this world.[]

Then he turned and carried Emma into his Jeep, without looking back.
It was a kind stranger who finally called an ambulance for me.]
At the hospital, the doctor confirmed what I already knew.[]
I’d lost the baby.

all I could see was Marcus walking away.
