13 Are You Jealous?
Kevin’s eyes darkened slightly as he looked at Jessie, his gaze carrying a hint of scrutiny.
“Is this woman… testing me?”
He chuckled. “What are you dreaming about? If I were a member of the Harper family, would I still have to do this kind of manual labor?”
Hearing this, Jessie sighed in relief and patted her chest. “Oh, that’s good to know.”
Her reaction confused Kevin. Most people would hope to climb up the social ladder, so why was she relieved?
Out of curiosity, Kevin raised an eyebrow and asked, “You seem like you don’t want me to be related to the Harper family.”
Jessie didn’t avoid his gaze and nodded directly, answering with a wry smile.
“I would feel uneasy if you were. After all, the Harper family is the richest in Grace City, and ordinary people like us can’t be close to such a big family
“And, let me tell you, people from wealthy families have the most rules at home with no freedom at all. When I was buying groceries before, I heard from a lady that her distant relative got married to a rich man. Although her life was good, her husband changed women every day. “Who said men grow more wicked with money? Not all families are like that. Kevin said sternly. In his family, his grandfather valued harmony the most and didn’t like too many rules. Besides, the Harpers strictly forbid infidelity and having mistresses outside. If they were caught, there would be severe consequences according to family rules.
Therefore, the men in the Harper family were the most sincere.
“You’re right, we can’t judge everyone with the same stereotype. Jessie nodded and looked at Kevin curiously. “They said that the young master from the Harper family has not gotten married yet. Do you know why?”
He glanced at her coldly and responded, “Maybe he’s not ready to get married yet?
If it weren’t for Grandpa Harper’s request, he would not even have considered marrying Jessie. Jessie nodded thoughtfully, describing the scene at the banquet today to him.

Jessie felt irritated by his suspicious attitude and said seriously, “Mr. Harper, although we don’t have a strong emotional foundation, now that we’re married, I won’t do anything to betray our marriage.”
Her serious tone made Kevin realize he had crossed a line.

Jessie pursed her lips and decided not to argue with him.
“Alright, I forgive you. What time do you plan to get up tomorrow? If we need to go shopping. we need to go early. Should I wake you up?”
“You don’t have to. Just tell me the time, and I’ll get up on my own.”

“Okay.”
During this time together, Jessie noticed that although Kevin always used a cold tone, he at least treated her with some respect.

Jessie found it strange and asked, puzzled. “You’ve never had it? With your kind of work, there are probably a lot of times when you’re in a rush and have to rely on fast food, no?”
He was surprised, realizing he might have made a slip–up. He calmly explained, “Of course I’ve had it. I just don’t find it healthy, so I don’t eat it anymore. And our boss values our well–being. so he always gives us enough time for lunch.”
She nodded in slight surprise. “I didn’t expect your boss to be so considerate”
She had thought that capitalists nowadays only thought about exploiting their employees every day.
But on second thought, despite being a repairman, Kevin was able to accompany his boss to a
party. This was enough to show he had a high status among his coworkers and was to a
well–liked by his boss.
Jessie didn’t inquire further and said goodbye before entering her room.
Kevin glanced at her room door and sighed, glad he hadn’t revealed too much.
He also went to his room. Although they were already married, they respected each other. Most importantly, Jessic had never asked him to fulfill his marital duties, which pleased him.
After some thought, he called his bodyguard. As Kevin’s bodyguard, he had to be on duty 24 hours a day.
When the bodyguard received Kevin’s call, he immediately picked up. It was late at night, so he thought something had happened to Kevin.
But as soon as the call connected, Kevin’s voice came through, “Help me buy a microwave oven tomorrow. Get one that is not too expensive but has better quality.”
