During the event, he led me to a man. The moment the man turned his head, my heart felt as if it had been struck by something. It was a strange, indescribable feeling.
He smiled at me.
Dad introduced him with an almost uncharacteristically eager expression. “Nat, this is the fiancé I’ve chosen for you, Christopher
Nielsen.
“The Sinclair family doesn’t believe in arranged marriages, but any man who stands beside my daughter must be worthy of her. If you don’t like him, we can always find someone else.“!
At those words, I caught the briefest flicker of disappointment in Christopher’s eyes.
He gave me a good first impression, and it wasn’t like I planned to be single forever. But marrying a stranger was out of the
question.
“We should start as friends,” I said. “Get to know each other first

The tension in the study eased instantly. Dad and Christopher both looked delighted with my response.

Later that night, after the banquet ended, Dad called me into his study. His tone was hesitant. “Sweetheart… you haven’t
forgotten about Caleb, have you?”
For a second, I froze.
Dad’s expression turned serious. “That man isn’t worth your time. After everything he did to you, I will never forgive him!”
I chuckled. “Dad, it’s just that the person you’re talking about feels a little unfamiliar to me. I almost couldn’t recall who he was.”
And I wasn’t lying. Caleb was nothing more than a faded memory.
Time healed all, after all. I had once thought my resentment toward him would last forever. But the truth was, people who didn’t
matter were easily forgotten.
The pain might never fully fade, but those who caused it simply weren’t worth remembering.
“Good. Because I’ve already taken care of those who hurt you.”
Dad then told me everything.
After I had left, Dad had uncovered the whole truth. In return for the pain they caused me, he had destroyed the Lawson family,
driving them to bankruptcy.
The Grant family didn’t fare any better. Already a sinking ship, they disappeared from high society overnight like they had never
existed.
On top of that, Yvette’s dirty scandals were laid bare for the world to see. Albert and Patricia were forced to face the truth–their
perfect daughter had been living a double life, and her private affairs were a complete mess.
She had slept with multiple men, and yet not a single one claimed her child.
With the Grant family in ruins, they had no choice but to accept the child anyway.
The humiliation was too much for Patricia. She collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, but she passed away the very same day.
With the Lawsons bankrupt and the Grants disgraced, the two families found themselves perfectly matched once more. Yvette, now a fallen socialite, ended up marrying Caleb.
Hearing all this, I let out a relieved smile.
“Dad, I stopped loving Caleb a long time ago. Whether he’s alive or dead has nothing to do with me
