Nancy stared at Mom in disbelief, momentarily speechless. “Ms. Lincoln, don’t let her fool you… I’m prettier and more talented than her, so you should support me instead!”
She added eagerly, “Plus, Jason will help me get lots of resources! I’ll bring in investments!”
Mom was trembling in anger, and I quickly steadied her. “Mom, don’t let them upset you.”
“Mom?” Everyone froze.
“She’s your mother?”
I smiled slightly. “Let me introduce you to my adoptive mother, Ophelia Lincoln.”
Peter’s expression grew complicated. “How is this possible? Back then…”
He paused and quickly changed course. “I mean, if Rissa had mentioned this earlier, we could have avoided this ugly scene.
Mom let out a cold laugh. “Oh? So if you’d known about her award–winning mother, you wouldn’t have bullied her? What was that you said on the livestream about her lack of proper upbringing?”
Nancy’s eyes welled with tears. “Ms. Lincoln, you can’t go back on your word! Jason said you promised me a role in Clarissa’s
upcoming film!”

Her tone suddenly turned sharp. “Why should she get the lead just because she’s your adopted daughter? If fans find out about
this, they’ll say she got everything through nepotism!”
Mom was famous in the industry for being proudly single. Over the years, she had never been involved in any scandals, and no
one knew she had an adopted daughter.
Since my debut, I had also never mentioned her publicly, so no one had ever accused me of using connections.
Jason chimed in, backing Nancy. “Ms. Lincoln did promise me. As a prestigious actress, surely you’ll keep your word. Don’t forget
how much Holmes Group has invested in your projects.”
Mom gently stroked my hair, a knowing smile playing on her lips. “Who said I wouldn’t give her the role? Just head over to the set
when the time comes.”
I knew Mom’s personality well. If she was saying this, Nancy was in for a nasty surprise.
As we left, Grandma shot Peter a fierce glare. “One of these days, I’ll throw you out of here!”
Peter shrank back, not daring to make a sound.
