“Audrey, how do you feel?” he asked.
Tears streamed down my face. I looked up at him and choked out, “Jeremiah, the baby… Save the baby…”
David stared in disbelief. He raised his cane and struck Ethan hard across the back.
“You disgraceful brat! What have you done?”
Ethan dodged, glaring at me with hatred. “Grandpa, that woman was using the Moore name and screwing someone behind my
back! She fooled you and Uncle Jeremiah! I never touched her. That baby in her belly is not mine!”
Hazel chimed in quickly, “That’s right, Grandpa. Ethan and I only just returned to Beverton City today, and she’s already six or
seven months along. There’s no way that baby is Ethan’s.”
David turned and smacked Hazel across the back with his cane.
“The baby in Audrey’s belly is a member of the Moore family.”
Ethan shouted, “How’s that possible? I never touched her!”
Jeremiah scooped me into his arms and strode forward. He kicked Ethan hard with a murderous expression, sending him
sprawling.

His gaze burned with fury as he glared at the two of them. “If anything happens to Audrey or the baby, I’ll make you both pay
with your lives.”
With that, he carried me toward the hospital without another word.
The murderous intent in Jeremiah’s eyes had Ethan frozen in place. After Jeremiah had disappeared from sight, Ethan finally let
out a long breath and turned to David.
“Grandpa, has Uncle Jeremiah lost his mind? Is he seriously threatening my life for that shameless woman and her child?”
Hazel whispered beside him, “Ethan, what if this is all a setup? What if Audrey and Uncle Jeremiah planned this together? Everyone knows Uncle Jeremiah can’t have kids. Maybe he’s trying to use her baby to steal your inheritance.”
Ethan’s expression darkened as he turned to David.
“Grandpa, you have to stand up for me. Everything the Moores own is mine. I won’t let it fall into someone else’s hands.”
Upon seeing that both of them were still clueless, even with death staring them in the face, David struck Ethan on the head with
his cane in fury.
“I, David Moore, have prided myself on my sharp mind all my life. How did I end up with such an idiotic grandson? The child Audrey is carrying is
Jeremiah’s.”
