Just then, a group of bodyguards with cold, expressionless faces strode in from outside.
When they appeared, Ethan and Hazel began to tremble and beg David to help.
“Grandpa, please! I don’t want to die!”
“Please, Grandpa!”
The bodyguards ignored their cries and dragged them out.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah carried me into the car. The driver sped all the way to the hospital, making it there in just ten minutes.
I was rushed straight into the delivery room. Half an hour later, I gave birth to a stillborn baby boy.
The doctor prepared to take the body away per standard procedure, but I stopped her.
“Bring the baby to me,” I said.
The doctor’s voice tinged with sympathy. “Mrs. Moore, it’s better if you don’t look. I’m afraid it might leave a lasting trauma.”
I replied weakly, “He’s my child. No matter what, I need to say goodbye.”
Jeremiah gave a silent nod. The doctor gently placed the baby in my arms.

His skin was red all over, and he was barely the size of my palm. I held him as carefully as I could, afraid even the slightest
movement would hurt him.
Just that morning, he’d still been lively in my belly, responding to my touch. Now, he had silently left me.
Tears streamed uncontrollably down my cheeks.
“Baby, I’m so sorry I didn’t protect you. I’m sorry… Please don’t blame me, baby. Don’t be mad at me. Just… Please wake up,
okay?” I cried.
I placed him on my chest, hoping my warmth could bring him back. However, there was no such miracle.
Jeremiah’s eyes were red–rimmed as he held the two of us close. I knew his grief was no less than mine.
Jeremiah was ten years older than me.
When Ethan abandoned me at our wedding, it was Jeremiah who stepped onto the stage and married me in front of everyone. I
thought he’d only done it to spare me the humiliation and maintain the business relationship of our families.
That night, I presented him with a divorce agreement, but he tore it up without hesitation.
He told me he’d lived 34 years alone. But when he saw me in a wedding dress, he fell in love with me at first sight. He was serious
about the marriage, and he hoped I would take it seriously too.
After we married, he showered me with affection. He bought me jewelry and designer gowns before I even asked for anything. At
home, he was gentle and attentive.
I was just a young girl at heart. Eventually, I fell for him too.
Aside from his age, he certainly had the stamina too–he never held back in bed. Every night, he left me breathless.
One day, I visited a friend with a newborn. The sight made my heart melt, and I wanted one of our own.
Although Jeremiah was born infertile, he began seeking treatment in the country and overseas just to fulfill my wish.
He was over the moon the day I found out I was pregnant. He handed out a full month’s bonus to all his employees so they could
celebrate with us.
The first night we felt the baby kick, Jeremiah kissed my belly and said, “As long as I have you and the baby, I don’t need anything
else.”
We picked out the crib, the baby clothes, and the toys together. Each item was a symbol of our anticipation and love for this child.
Now, it was all gone.
When I thought of Ethan’s and Hazel’s vicious, twisted expressions, rage ignited in my chest. I wanted to tear them apart.
“Jeremiah, Ethan and Hazel killed our baby,” I said, seething.
