Chapter 122
“That’s impossible! She’s just some nobody from the countryside! Just because she has the last name Rivers, she thinks she can claim ties to the Rivers family in Southport?
“What a joke–this has to be fake. She’s putting on an act!”
“It’s real.”
This time, even Pauline spoke up. “Her biological uncle, the head of the Rivers family, personally came forward to support her, His identity is beyond question.”
At that moment, Yvonne’s expression twisted with rage.
She muttered under her breath, “That bitch… Why does she get so lucky? She’s nothing but a fraud, a fake heiress!
“She should have spent her life beneath me! If I had known, I would’ve made sure she never made it out of those mountains alive…”
She clenched her teeth in hatred.
Pauline’s eyes w
widened in disbelief as a chill ran down her spine.
“Yvonne… what did you just say?”
Her voice was dry, almost trembling.
Yvonne snapped, her voice shrill and hysterical.
“I said she shouldn’t have just been kidnapped and violated–she should have been tortured to death and left to rot as a
wandering ghost!”
Before she could spew more venom, a sharp slap rang through the room.
Jerome’s hand had come down hard across her face.
“You wretched creature! Even now, you refuse to repent? You’re beyond saving!”
He was completely enraged.
“How the hell did I end up with a daughter as disgraceful as you? From now on, I don’t give a damn what happens to you!”
With that, he turned and walked away.
Yvonne, still reeling from the slap, turned to Pauline, pleading.
But Pauline abruptly stood up, disappointment clouding her face.
She looked at Yvonne one last time and turned to leave without a single word.

“Mom! Dad! Don’t go!”
Yvonne screamed in desperation, but neither of them looked back.
Just as she was on the verge of breaking down, a figure suddenly appeared before her.
Seeing who it was, her eyes lit up with hope.
“Uncle! You’ve come to save me, haven’t you?”
“Yvonne, you were too reckless.”
Jonathan sighed, his brows furrowed.
Hearing him chastise her at a time like this only fueled Yvonne’s rage.

Her face twisted with fury as she snapped, “Uncle, don’t forget–you were involved in this too! If you don’t get me out of here, I’ll drag you down with me!”
The moment the words left her mouth, Jonathan’s expression darkened visibly.
A menacing chill filled his eyes, sharp and ruthless, like a blade slicing through the air.
Yvonne trembled involuntarily.
Then, she heard him chuckle coldly..
“Yvonne Harlow, everyone had a part in what happened. But if you hadn’t fed me lies, do you think I would’ve gone along with your plan?”
He paused, his expression regaining its usual composed indifference.
“Besides, you have no proof. Meanwhile, the recording is undeniable evidence. Who would believe a venomous woman like you?”
His words, laced with both threat and mockery, sent violent tremors through Yvonne.
Despair consumed her in an instant.
But just then, Jonathan let out a light chuckle.
“However, Yvonne… if you behave and keep your mouth shut about this, I might be able to help you.”
“Really?”
Hope flared in Yvonne’s eyes.
She lunged forward, gripping Jonathan’s hand as if clinging to her last lifeline.
“Uncle, you wouldn’t lie to me, right? You’ll really save me?”
“Of course. You know I have the power to do it.”

Jonathan’s smile was unreadable, his tone deep and knowing. “As long as you cooperate.”
Yvonne nodded frantically. “I will–I’ll do whatever you say.”
