Then, I said, “It’s fine. Let’s go check on Kristy.”
If I didn’t go, I was sure I would never hear the end of Grace’s criticisms of me being cold-hearted and uncaring.
By the time I reached the door to Kristy’s residence, I saw through the gap that she was lying on the bed. Her upper body was leaning against Eugene’s chest, and he had her in his embrace.
With tearful eyes and a pitiful voice, she said, “I’m not really in pain… I didn’t mean to lie. It’s just… every time I think about how you won’t come see me anymore after I’m pregnant, it makes me so upset. This was the only way I could see you again.
“Eugene, I don’t even know why… But whenever I’m alone, all I can think about is you. I just can’t forget you… Please don’t be mad at me. I only wanted to see you. I don’t want you to leave me.”
Eugene shook his head and stroked her belly tenderly. “It’s because you’re carrying my pup. Your hormones are driving you to feel attached to me. Also, you’re my sister-in-law. How could I possibly ignore you?”
Kristy clung to the front of Eugene’s shirt and pleaded, “Really, Eugene? Then promise me… Promise you’ll come see me every day. I don’t want you and Selena to have a pup from an inferior bloodline. The whole pack would be humiliated. You can only have a pup with me. Let me be the Luna, please?”
