When she saw him enter, Kristy smiled and sat up. “Eugene, the pup’s coming soon. I want to renovate the house and make a
room just for him. What do you think?”
Eugene countered coldly, “This is Selena’s house. After the baby’s born, you’ll move back to your own place. Keep the pup
wherever you want.”
Furious, Kristy screamed, “Selena is dead! Why can’t I live here?”
Eugene turned his head and stared at her icily. “Who said she’s dead? She’ll come back. This house is hers. She’s used to living
here. You’d better move out.‘
Tears welled up in Kristy’s eyes. Her voice trembled as she whined, “I’m carrying your pup, yet you’re still pining for that weak, useless, boring she–wolf? She’s dead! She’s never coming back!”
Then came the sound of a huge smack–Eugene had struck Kristy across the face.
He growled fiercely, “Who told you she was dead? As long as I haven’t seen her body, she’s still alive. And as long as she’s alive, the Luna’s position belongs to her.”
Kristy stared at him in stunned silence before going on a nearly incoherent tirade. “You… You hit me? And you’re saying the Luna’s title is hers? What about me? What am I then? Don’t forget that I’m carrying your pup! You can’t turn your back on us!
“I’m about to give birth to the Nightwind pack’s heir! You said yourself that this pack belongs to our son! So what does it matter if Selena comes back? She can’t even give you an heir. She’s nothing but a burden in this pack!”
Her gaze turned sharp and calculated as she continued, “Grace said it herself that Selena is of low status and background. Only someone like me can help you seize power faster. Don’t forget that I’m a pureblood Beta wolf. She’s just an Omega. We’re not even in the same league.
“Look at everything you’ve built up now. Have you forgotten my father’s support behind it all?”
Eugene’s face flushed red with fury. “You’re saying my Alpha status came from your father’s help? Don’t forget that you were my brother’s mate. I only agreed to give you a pup. Now that you’re pregnant, it means we’re done.”
Kristy, her belly round and prominent, screamed back at him, “What did you say? You’re going to abandon me and this pup? Don’t you dare!
“If you try to walk away, I’ll have my father bring you before the pack elders for forcing your sister–in–law into bed. Let them judge and see if you can still stay Alpha after that!”
