Chapter 23 Get Off Me
Catherine knew Reynold had always looked down on her, thinking she was just a simple country bumpkin.
She understood why–he was a genius, after all.

Placing the herbal meal formula on the table, Catherine grabbed her bag. “I won’t come here anymore. You can tell Grandma about the divorce whenever you get the chance.”
With those words, she turned to leave.
But Reynold caught her wrist. “It’s late. Where do you think you’re going?”
Catherine stopped in her tracks, struggling to free her wrist from his grip. “Let go of me.”
Reynold noticed the cold look in her eyes, so different from the night before. Last night, she had been all over him, clinging to him with seductive eyes, like a little cat. But now, she was pulling away without hesitation.
Reynold sneered. “Who are you planning to find at this hour? A guy with eight–pack abs, a shy boy, or a cool business elite? I didn’t expect you were into playing around like this. Won’t you afraid to get a dirty disease?”
Catherine slapped him hard across the face.
Reynold’s head jerked to the side from the impact.
Her palm stung, but her anger made the pain worth it.
His eyes burned with fury. He pushed her, causing her knees to hit the edge of the bed, and she fell onto the soft bed.
Before she could react, Reynold’s tall figure loomed over her, pinning her down as anger flared in his eyes. “Catherine, do you have a habit of hitting me?”
It was the second time she had slapped him. Even Evelyn wouldn’t dare do that.
If she showed the slightest dissatisfaction, Evelyn would go out of her way to please him.
What did Catherine think of him? Did she believe she could just hit him whenever she wanted?
Catherine met his gaze without fear. “So, you’re aware that playing around with multiple men could lead to diseases? Did you forget that you arranged for a man to meet me last night?”
Reynold froze.
Catherine lay under him, her hair scattered on the sheets that Melinda had arranged. Her fair skin looked striking against the bright colors, making her almost alluring.
He couldn’t imagine what it would be like if she were lying like that under another man.
Reynold clenched his fist as frustration burned inside him. He wanted to explain that he had sent an antidote, not a man, but the words stuck in his throat.
Catherine looked up at him, her expression cold. “Get off me.”
But Reynold didn’t move.
She struggled more, thinking about how he had brought Evelyn to Westwood Villa last night. She didn’t want any physical contact with him.
Reynold, get off me! You were with Evelyn last night! Did you even wash up?”
Reynold was silent, not knowing how to respond.
He grabbed her hands and forced them onto the bed. “Don’t move!*

Catherine refused to listen to him and struggled harder.

Reynold was pinning her down, but she twisted and shifted beneath him, her body moving against his through the thin fabric of their clothes.
Reynold couldn’t help but remember how seductive she had been last night, kissing and touching him in his arms.
The memory sparked a rush of heat, and he felt the desire building up in him.
Catherine noticed the change in him and froze. “Are you
”
Reynold cursed inwardly and quickly pulled away, sitting up. “I’m not!”
Catherine sat up as well, looking at him. “But
”
He glanced at her coldly. “Are you mad because I spent time with Evelyn last night instead of with you? Do you truly think I’d want to touch you?”
Catherine’s face went pale as the humiliation sank in. She realized that what she’d just felt was all in her head. How could he be attracted to her?
She stood up, her voice steady. “In that case, it’s none of your business if I want to see other men.”
Reynold’s expression darkened. “How dare you!”
Noticing his anger, Catherine smirked. “Let me know when you’re ready to divorce me. Until then, you can have your fun, and I’ll have mine. We won’t get in each other’s way.”
Then, as if remembering something, she glanced at his lips and teasingly added, “Maybe you should work on your kissing skills. Are you sure you even know how to kiss?”
With that, she walked out.
Reynold slumped back onto the bed, his breathing heavy. A wave of unspoken frustration and anger washed over him.
This d*mn woman! What’s so wrong with my kissing skills? Why does she keep bringing it up?
He sneered, realizing it was just another one of her games. She was trying to provoke him into kissing her again, just like she had before with her comments about his skills on bed.
Her tricks never changed.
