Chapter 11 I’ll Leave

He thought Catherine was just a naive girl from the countryside, someone who’d dropped out of school at 16 with no ability to make a living.
In his mind, this was all a game of playing hard to get, her way of squeezing more money out of him.
The check for one million dollars was essentially payment for three years of her life–after that, they’d owe each other nothing.
Brian nodded. “Okay, Mr. Parker.”
Just then, Brian’s phone rang. He answered and exclaimed with excitement, “Mr. Parker, great news! Miracle C has accepted‘ our case. She’s agreed to perform heart surgery for Ms. Evelyn!”
Miracle C was a legend in the medical world, a top–tier doctor with unmatched skills. Billionaires from around the globe lined up for a chance to see her.
But three years ago, Miracle C suddenly vanished without a trace. No one knew where she went.
Now, after three years, Miracle C had finally returned.
Evelyn had suffered from heart disease since she was a child, enduring hospital stays and chemotherapy. Despite all that, her condition never fully healed.
Reynold had used his immense wealth to secure an appointment with Miracle C for Evelyn.
The tension in Reynold’s furrowed brow eased as he curled his lips into a rare smile. Evelyn finally had a chance to be saved.
The next day, Catherine arrived at Holistic Hospital.
Suddenly, a team of black–suited bodyguards moved in, forming an orderly procession that carved a path through the crowd. Catherine and the other bystanders were forced to step aside.
Two young women nearby were chatting. “What’s going on?”
“You didn’t hear? Our very own Havendor Red Rose–Evelyn, the lead ballerina–is here. She had heart trouble while dancing earlier today, so Mr. Parker brought her to the hospital.”
“Mr. Parker? No wonder it’s such a big production.”
Catherine’s heart fluttered. She hadn’t expected to run into Reynold and Evelyn here.
“Look! Mr. Parker and Evelyn are coming!”
Catherine glanced up, and there he was–Reynold Parker. His tall, commanding figure in a custom–tailored black suit exuded elegance and dominance.
Evelyn was cradled in his arms as he strode forward.
A group of doctors and nurses from the hospital swarmed them, guiding Reynold and Evelyn. “This way, Mr. Parker.”
Reynold carried Evelyn with long, purposeful strides and disappeared down the corridor.
One of the young women beside Catherine squealed in excitement. “Wow, Mr. Parker is so handsome! He’s the perfect domineering CEO.”
“And Evelyn is so beautiful and graceful–she’s the ideal match for him. They’re like a real–life fairy tale.”
“I mean, look at them–an elegant, powerful Mr. Parker and a delicate, talented ballerina. It’s straight out of a romance novel!”
Catherine and Reynold were secretly married, with only a few people in their circle knowing. Everyone was eager to see how

things play out between Reynold and Evelyn.

Catherine bit her lip as she watched Reynold walk away. He hadn’t even noticed her; his entire focus was on Evelyn.
In their love story, Catherine was nothing more than an unwanted extra.
Pushing her feelings aside, Catherine followed the directions on her phone and located Room 109, the VVIP ward.
When she peeked in, she saw Reynold, Evelyn, and two other familiar faces–Shawn and Celia.
Evelyn was already sitting on the hospital bed. Shawn and Celia flanked her on either side, showering her with attention like they always had. They treated her like a princess.
Shawn beamed. “Eve, this is amazing! Mr. Parker managed to get Miracle C to treat you!”
Celia was overcome with emotion, tears glistening in her eyes. “My sweet Eve, you’ve been through so much. But it’s all going to be okay now. Once Miracle C cures your heart condition, you’ll finally be healthy. And then you can marry Mr. Parker without a care in the world.”
Evelyn gave Reynold a sweet, adoring smile.
Reynold, tall and imposing, stood protectively at her side, reaching out to gently ruffle her hair.
The scene was so warm, so perfect–a picture of love and happiness.
Catherine froze in the doorway. She couldn’t believe it. Of all the patients Xander had scheduled her to treat, it had to be Evelyn.
The idyllic scene before her made her chest tighten and her eyes sting.
Inside the room, Reynold seemed to sense something. He turned his head, and those deep, sharp eyes locked onto Catherine’s.
She wasn’t prepared to meet his gaze.
Reynold narrowed his eyes and immediately strode toward her, his long legs closing the distance in seconds. “Catherine, what are you doing here?”
“I…” Catherine stammered.
His tone turned icy. “Were you following me?”
“No, I wasn’t.”
By now, Shawn and Celia had noticed Catherine too. Celia frowned. “Cath, why are you here? Today is an important day for Evelyn–Miracle C is here to treat her. Why are you causing trouble now?”
Shawn’s expression darkened. “Cath, this is inappropriate. You should leave.”
Evelyn didn’t say much, but she sat on the bed, regal and poised, casting a faintly disdainful glance at Catherine.
Reynold stepped closer, his towering figure exuding pressure. He grabbed Catherine’s arm and sneered, “Catherine, are you still playing this game? Hard to get wasn’t enough for you, and now you’ve resorted to stalking? Stop wasting your time on me and leave. Now.”
No one wanted her there. Everyone was telling her to go,
Catherine’s lips curled into a cold smile as her sharp gaze swept over Celia, Evelyn, and Shawn. Then, with a quick motion, she yanked her arm out of Reynold’s grasp. “Fine,” she said with a faint smile. “I’ll leave.”
