Sitting in Vivian’s car, I leaned back on the seat.
I had already taken out my trump card.
The rest of it had nothing to do with me anymore.
Except for that picture…
After another month, William applied to add me to his friends on the Line.
“It’s been a long time. How are you?”
I didn’t permit it. But he continued applying to me.
I didn’t want him to bother me, so I agreed.
“What’s wrong?”
William’s attitude surprisingly changed. “Audrey, I want to know if you’re doing well.
“I’m pretty good since I left you, satisfied?”
I typed these words to vent my anger. However, William didn’t get mad at me.
“But I wasn’t good after I left you, Audrey….

“I miss you, my parents miss you too. Can you come back to me?”
I felt funny. “William, are you out of mind? Or why are you saying all stupid things?
“Delete me. You’re doomed if your wife sees our conversation.”
Probably because of my warnings, William stopped talking.
I shook my head. Was it the same with men all over the world? What they didn’t get was the best.
But it was not as simple as I thought.
After a long time, William sent another message.
“Audrey, Abril had a down’s screening, and the results are bad.
“The baby would be a down’s baby. I told her to give up, but she refused.
“We quarreled for three days. She won’t listen to my words. She’s calling me a murderer…”
As an ex–wife, I watched quietly as my ex–husband complained to me about the mother of his child.
Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore either.
“William, I think Abril is right.

“You’ve already made two babies disappear from this world. Now are you going to kill a third one? Are you a baby killer?” 1
William was devastated. “How did I know the child would be like this? If he is a down’s baby, how could he survive in this world?”
I said angrily, “You can raise him. It’s your baby!”
William raked over the past.
“Audrey, I’ve thought carefully about what you said. I think you are right. The baby may not be mine.
“We didn’t see each other every day. So if it’s another man’s, won’t I raise the baby for someone else?”
His words made me put my phone aside.
After a while, I adjusted my mood and picked up my phone again.
“William, you haven’t changed, selfish and disgusting.”
After saying that, I deleted William from my Line.
The moment the last leaf fell, the day of my surgery arrived.
Vivian pushed me out of the hospital room in a wheelchair. To my surprise, William was waiting outside.
As soon as Vivian saw him, she narrowed her eyes. “What are you doing here? Haven’t you hurt Audrey enough?”

Chapter 11 The Ending
William’s face was haggard and withered, losing the usual liveliness.
“Audrey, I know you are having surgery today. I want to come and see you.”
His voice trembled. “Audrey, you’ve lost weight.”
I smiled and took off my hat.
My long hair had been shaded off. On my head, it was full of doctor’s drawings.
That was where I was going to make my incision cuts later.
William looked at it, and his eyes turned red.
“Audrey, I’m sorry.”
“Isn’t it a little too late for that?” I asked him calmly.
William collapsed onto the ground.
“Audrey, mom insisted on inducing the baby for fear that Abril would give birth to a down’s baby. “My baby was gone…”
Although I had foreseen what was gonna happen, I still felt sad for William and Abril.
Children were innocent anyway. They’d done nothing wrong.
I then thought of my babies. Who had ever felt sorry for my unborn child?
William hugged my knees and squeezed me painfully.
“Audrey, let’s start over, okay? I’m sorry for what I have done to you. Could you forgive me?”
The security guard took William up and dragged him in the opposite direction.
William was still shouting, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done this to you, Audrey. I want to have a child with you…”
All I could do now was smile.
William and I were over a long time ago.
My tears dried up before the divorce.
Yet the feelings he and I once had were real.
Abril ran over to me, crying.
She desperately grabbed William’s clothes, and all she could do was cry.
I still remembered the scene where she was lying on the hospital bed at that time, and William was holding her in his arms.
How time flew.
Chapter 11 The Ending
William broke free of one of the security guard’s arms and fought his way out, flinging Abril to the ground.
Abril covered her belly and cried uncontrollably. Her belly there had long been empty.
Seeing this, I choked up.
I was going to experience life or death too.
Finally, I held Vivian’s hand.
“Vivian, you’d better delete that picture.”
We should pretend we never saw it.
Trying hard not to cry, Vivian gently nodded her head.
“I’ll be right here waiting for you. I swear. You must be tough.”
I nodded and smiled.
Vivian glanced at Abril’s phone that day and took a picture.
It was Abril’s other phone, and on it was a Line message.
“Abril, honey, how did the checkup go? Is my son healthy?”
We didn’t know the man.
Vivian held up her phone through the glass and told me the photo had been deleted.
I smiled, put on the anesthesia mask the doctor was holding, and closed my eyes.
