Without hesitation, Daniel took the money back.
Lindsay smiled. “Audrey, you are such a kind and generous girl.”
Daniel said, “Audrey, go to see the doctor as soon as possible. If you need anything, let us know.”
I knew he didn’t mean it, but I still nodded my head.
“Got it, Mom and Dad. I’m off.”
Lindsay pretended to ask me to stay. “Why don’t you have dinner with us?”
I waved my hand. “I have to go home and make dinner for William. I’m leaving.”
Standing near the door to change my shoes, I looked out into the living room.
Daniel, Lindsay, Frederick, and his girlfriend, the four of them were laughing and chatting around the dining table.
What a sweet family. It was too bad I was not one of them.
Walking down the street in a daze, I wondered where I was going.
Maybe this was my destiny?
I spent some time at the Fisher’s house and some time at William’s house.
I’d been wandering all my life, but I couldn’t find my home.
I walked on the street, feeling desperate. I fell when a stroller passed by.
“Oops, are you okay?”
The child’s mother came over to help me. I struggled to get up from the ground.
“I’m fine. Is the baby okay?”

The woman smiled happily and brightly. “The baby is fine. My husband is holding her.”
I looked up to see a short man holding the small baby in his arms tightly, his eyes full of doting and love.
It was so nice. This was happiness.
I watched them walk away. I was jealous of them.
I would never have such sweet days, would I?
I cried out in pain when I thought of my two babies.
How could I be so stupid? How could I believe William’s bullshit?
My phone rang. It was Vivian.
I pressed off, but she kept calling until I picked up.
“What’s wrong with you?”
I tried to hide my sadness. I couldn’t cover my thick nasal voice.
I couldn’t take it anymore and told her everything that happened today.
I trusted Vivian the most. She was the only person I could rely on.
After hearing what had happened, Vivian became outraged.
“William is a scum! His parents are stupid. How can they protect their son so much?”
She asked me where I was. “Audrey, wait for me. I’m coming to get you now.”
Ten minutes later, Vivian’s car pulled up beside me.
By the time I got in the car, I collapsed. I hadn’t eaten anything since this morning.
Vivian held my cold hand, frowning in pain.
“Come on, I’ll take you to dinner.”
I shook my head. “I have no appetite.”
Vivian took me to a nice restaurant despite my objections.
“Haven’t eaten anything for a day, have you? Drink the soup first.”
I took a sip and put the spoon down.
Vivian felt sorry for me. “Eat something. Or you won’t have the strength to fight back.”
I shook my head. “What’s the point?

Chapter 8 Homeless
“Abril has a baby in her belly. I can’t be as cruel as William.”
Vivian swallowed and sighed.
“You think it’s cruel to them. But William never shows you mercy from the day he cheated on you.”
I nodded. Based on William’s behavior, I wasted seven years on him.
That fresh, hot, life–giving love had long since silently slipped through my fingers and flowed into younger, more beautiful Abril.
After dinner, Vivian drove me to her home. I couldn’t go back to William’s place anymore, and I didn’t want to.
Vivian grabbed the steering wheel and suddenly tapped it. “How could we forget such an important thing!”
I was taken aback. “What’s wrong?”
Vivian reached out and pinched my cheeks. “Little fool, you’re still grabbing a trump card in your hand.”
Then Vivian gritted her teeth and said, “That Abril, there is likely to be something fishy…”
As if hearing her words, my phone rang with a friend application message from the Line.
I opened it. There was only one sentence on it.
“I’m Abril. Can we
meet?”
