Chapter 27 Helping Tech Development
Lizzie lowered her eyes, wondering if the factory was in trouble.
She was good at Latin, which already attracted some attention. If she showed off more skills…
Emery didn’t wait for her response, just waved his hand. “Hey, forget it. I’m just too anxious.”
After saying this, he went to wash his hands in the kitchen.
While Emery was washing his hands, Lizzie figured it out.
At this point in her previous life, she started teaching herself Latin.
She even learned a few other languages.
But even Theron wasn’t sure how much she learned. She never showed off her skills to anyone else. Even if others knew that she was proficient in six languages, it just meant she was gifted in learning languages.
So, when Emery sat down at the table, Lizzie casually asked, “Which foreign language do you need?”
Emery was just about to pick up his fork when he heard Lizzie’s question. He paused for a moment.
He looked at Lizzie in surprise.
“So, you can really speak other foreign languages except for Latin?“,
Lizzie nodded, smiling gently.
“I’m just interested in learning different languages, so I studied a bit,” she said in a modest tone.
Emery put down his fork, his tired face lighting up with excitement.
“Well, the factory bought two large machines from abroad two years ago. They’re worth more than 20 thousand dol- lars. The leaders put in a lot of effort to get these machines. And they even hired experts from abroad to install them and teach us.”
Emery remembered when the machines first arrived at the factory, everyone was really excited. With these machines, they hoped they could take on more orders, and everyone’s life would get better.
But then…Emery’s enthusiasm faded.
Then they had many problems.
“No one in the factory really knows how to operate these two sophisticated machines properly. They have hired for- eign experts to come and guide us and also provided translators.
“But their translation skills were not so good. A lot of technical terms just couldn’t be translated correctly. As a result,

when the foreign experts were in the factory, the machines could run.

“But once the experts left, the machines kept breaking down. Today, they even stop working completely. We tried to fix them, but it was no use.”
Emery looked upset. “Those machines cost over 20 thousand dollars, but they are useless now. It’s really frustrating for the factory leaders and the technical staff.”
Emery was also anxious.
“If we hire foreign experts again for repair and guidance, it’ll be another huge expense. The factory manager said it would cost at least 5,000 dollars. That money could really help to improve the workers‘ living conditions. But now, it’s going to pay those foreigners!”
Emery clenched his teeth in frustration.
He could accept spending money on equipment and learning new skills, but he couldn’t stand paying for repairs again and again.
Moreover, even if this problem could be solved this time, what about next time?
Emery really had no choice but to complain to his niece. But even if Lizzie was excellent, she was just a young girl. These were foreign machines, and how could Lizzie have any solution? He didn’t really expect Lizzie to help him.
Emery sighed, not eating anything, just pouring himself a glass of wine and drinking it up, feeling utterly helpless.
Emery worked for so long in the factory as a technician, and he had a deep connection with the factory. Seeing it in trouble because of the machine breakdowns, he was naturally anxious.
Listening to Emery’s explanation, Lizzie gained an understanding of the factory’s problems.
In her previous life, Lizzie had little contact with Emery’s family because of Theron, so she never heard about this in- cident. But she knew Emery’s arm got injured later. She heard it was exactly cut by a large machine.
Large machine? Could it be this imported machine?
Thinking of this, her face became serious. “Emery, you mentioned foreign experts, and where are they from?”
“Germany.”
Seeing Lizzie’s serious expression, Emery regretted telling her about this problem.
Lizzie was always too considerate. Emery didn’t want his niece to worry about him, so he picked up his fork again and served her some food, changing the topic.
“Let’s eat. Don’t worry about me.”
But Lizzie nodded. “So, it’s German. I can speak a bit. But I need to go to the factory to check the details.”
After Lizzie was reborn, she had a strong desire to contribute to her country’s scientific industry.
They were at a critical time, and the country was facing technological blockades from abroad.

Those technologies would be nothing special in the future, but they limited the development of the country now.
Of course, these technical challenges would eventually be overcome, and the country would achieve a comprehensive lead in the field of science and technology in the future.
But now, the problem was urgent, and she really hoped to help.
“You don’t have to worry, I…”
Lizzie’s tone became firm. “Emery, I can go check what’s going on first. Maybe I can help.”
Upon hearing Lizzie’s words, Emery’s originally upset eyes slowly brightened. “Okay, tomorrow you come with me
to have a look, but you don’t have to feel too much pressure, just say you’re there to visit me.
“Let’s eat first. The food’s getting cold.”
He invited everyone to eat.
The atmosphere at the table was no longer as gloomy as before.
Colton also became excited more interested in Lizzie’s knowledge of German.
“Lizzie, you even know German?”
Lizzie thought for a moment and casually spoke a few sentences.
Colton looked at Lizzie with admiration. “Lizzie, how many languages do you know?”

“I’m fluent in Latin and German. Many old documents are written in Latin. And I learned German because Germany’s technology is advanced. For other languages, I just know a bit.”
As they chatted, Emery became more and more excited.
He just planned to let Lizzie take a look, but he didn’t expect her to really know German!
He listened to the two German sentences Lizzie said. Although he didn’t understand what they meant, they indeed sounded similar to the pronunciation of the foreign experts!
He now had confidence and looked forward to taking Lizzie to the factory tomorrow!
The next day, because of the incident with Norma and Johanna, Lizzie didn’t finish the translation work she was as- signed yesterday.
But she wasn’t worried. She decided to put it aside for now and went to the factory with Emery first.
Fredrick was eagerly waiting for Colton. He was ready to tell Colton the good news. Lizzie’s translation level was promoted. But Colton didn’t come.
Fredrick didn’t know why, but he really looked forward to Lizzie’s promotion to the intermediate level, as if he were waiting for it for a lifetime.
