Chapter 9
Isaac’s POV
The first time I met Maya, she mistook me for a sex worker.
With a face that strikingly reminded me of Mary, she leaned against me, tugging at my clothes with enthusiasm.
As
she shouted about proving her toughness, I was momentarily taken aback.
How could anyone be so adorable? A spark of attraction flickered within
- me.
I never anticipated that after just one night, she would disappear without a
trace.
And she left 100 dollars behind?
Interesting. She was becoming increasingly unpredictable.
Initially, I suspected she had approached me with financial motives.
After all, my investigation into her background revealed that her parents had passed away early.
She had not only supported herself through college but also helped her boyfriend launch a business.
She was like a wild rose blooming in adversity.
I was never fond of delicate women like Mary.
Her boyfriend, however, seemed like a bad match. I discovered he was

cheating on her with his secretary.
What an idiot–he had a great girlfriend and still didn’t appreciate her.
I made sure he faced the consequences.
I eventually got in touch with Maya, but she kept distancing herself from
- me.
Did she really dislike me that much?
I had no option but to leverage the power of the internet.
Maya, you belonged with me. You wouldn’t get away.
Drawn in by my charm and wealth, Maya finally chose to stay with me willingly.
I adored the way she blushed, resembling an innocent white rabbit.
Yet, she was ready to show her fierce side to her ex–husband.
I cherish this peaceful solitude that feels uniquely mine.
I vowed to make my wife the happiest she could be.
However, those joyful days were short–lived. Maya discovered that I had once viewed her as a stand–in.
I was overwhelmed with panic. Even though it was just a fleeting thought, I couldn’t forgive myself.
Maya had already endured so much, and I had allowed such a notion to cross my mind. I felt I deserved punishment.
Maya was furious and refused to return home. I reached out to her through countless calls and messages, but they all vanished without a

response.
“Maya, you’ve booked a flight overseas. Have you decided you no longer want me?” I thought.
I felt like punishing myself for the horrible thought of viewing her as a replacement.
It seemed like risking my life was the only way forward.
I was on my way to find Maya. If I reached her safely, it would mean she had forgiven me.
If not, it would be my penance for causing her pain.
Yet, my love for Maya would remain eternal.
Fortunately, I made it through.
I was deeply thankful for having the chance to cherish and love her.
Maya was my wife.
From that point on, I vowed to never cause her unhappiness again.
We had a beautiful daughter, Maya.
That day, she became a mother–but to me, she would always be my precious one,
As husband and wife, our bond was unbreakable. From that day forward, our love was steadfast and unquestionable.
