Chapter 5
Just three hours after accepting Isaac’s proposal, I was already regretting
- it.
“Honey, since you’ve agreed, shouldn’t you take on some wifely responsibilities?
“I’ll lead this time as we try to recapture the feeling we had before.”
With a mix of charm and mischief, he led me to bed.
Once there, his intensity was overwhelming–he sweet–talked me while being relentless.
To add to the irony, he used the same tone as the previous night, which made me feel emotional. A CEO making such an effort to make me happy -what more could I want?
It wasn’t until I passed out and woke up that I truly grasped being Isaac’s wife.
When I regained consciousness, I found myself in a villa, the space beside
me empty.
On the nightstand was a bowl of steaming broth, aromatic and inviting.
I grabbed my phone intending to message Isaac, but I was stunned by what I saw. –
Holy crap! Over 50 missed calls!
They were all from my best friend.
Chapter 5
I suddenly remembered that I’d been so caught up with Isaac yesterday
that I completely forgot to get back to Sarah. After all this time, would she be furious with me?
With a sense of inevitability, I gathered my courage and called Sarah back.
She answered immediately, as if she’d been expecting my call.
There was no angry questioning as I had feared–just a calmness as still as a lake.
“Hello?”
When I finally spoke, even I was surprised by how raspy my voice. sounded. Why was it so hoarse?
“Maya… are you alright? You didn’t cry, did you? What’s going on with. your voice?”
Sarah asked cautiously.
“I’m okay. What’s happening with you?”
I avoided addressing her question about my voice, striving to keep it steady but unable to mask the fatigue.
I noticed her unusual tone.
“Where are you? I’m coming over–please, don’t do anything reckless.”
Sarah exclaimed, sounding anxious and stressed.
I was more baffled than ever. Was she really losing it?
Maybe I should reconsider telling her about Isaac and me.

Chapter 5
“Alright, stay calm. Let’s meet at our usual café.”
Just as Isaac had promised, not only did 30,000 dollars land in my account, but a Porsche also arrived as part of the arrangement.
So, I cheerfully drove the supercar to meet my best friend.
As soon as Sarah spotted me, she practically leaped at me, anxiously examining me from head to toe.
“Maya, are you alright? Are you really alright?”
“What’s going on with you? I’m seriously fine…”
“I was so worried! Yesterday, I saw Owen’s Instagram post about your breakup. He accused you of wronging him. I thought you’d be devastated…”
As she talked, she burst into tears.
I quickly embraced her to console her.
“Breakup? That jerk actually had the audacity to make it public?
“But don’t worry about me. I’ve already… ahem, I married Isaac.”
The crying stopped instantly, replaced by eyes so wide they nearly popped out of her head…
I spent three hours recounting the entire story to Sarah, repeatedly assuring her that the old “lapdog” version of Maya was gone forever.
She finally let me go after I ignored three calls from Isaac…
The incident had escalated overnight, but Isaac’s skill in managing the situation was even more remarkable–by morning, he had quelled all public uproar.
Chapter 5
“Where are you?”
“Call me back.”
“Or I’ll put up missing person flyers.”
Three text messages in quick succession. I couldn’t decide whether to laugh or cry–was he really being serious? So childish.
I called him back right away, only to hear
his behind me. When I
turned around, Isaac’s face was as dark as a shadowy patch of moss.
“Why the rush? I can’t exactly disappear,” I remarked, noticing his frantic demeanor.
I moved closer and gave him a reassuring pat on the head.
Before I could react, he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me against his chest, playfully nipping my ear as if in reprimand.
“Mrs. Heald ought to understand her responsibilities as a wife.
“What kind of wife doesn’t contact her husband for hours? Do I need to instruct you in bed instead?”
Right there in public, a strikingly handsome 188 cm man was making. suggestive comments–it was impossible not to notice,
I quickly admitted my fault.
“Alright, alright, I was wrong. I’ll inform you of my whereabouts from
now on.
Only then did he let go of me and guide me to the car.
“Regarding your ex–fiancé–shouldn’t we address him first?”
Chapter S
I was confused.
“I’m not pleased with that Instagram post he made. What does he mean by saying you ‘ran off with a gigolo and wronged him“?”
Isaac snuggled into my arms like a child, but his tone was unmistakably icy, exuding a clear “I’m going to ruin his life” vibe.
“Relax, I’ll handle it today–no need for the husband to do anything.
I flashed a wicked grin, and Isaac promptly shoved me down.
An insatiable wolf.
