Chapter 1
I had just received my pregnancy test results when I stumbled upon an Instagram post by Owen Webley’s secretary.
The post showed her making a heart shape with my husband’s hand on a Maldivian beach, captioned, “Summer is blazing, but you make it unbelievably sweet.
I roll
rolled my eyes and casually hit the like button.
Suddenly, my hand slipped, and I accidentally sent the pregnancy test report along with an image of a muscular eight–pack to Owen’s phone.
As expected, he immediately lost his cool and replied with a question. mark.
The reply he got was merely an emotionless, automated message saying the message had been unsent.
To add a bit more impact, I casually followed up with another message, “Oops! Wrong person.”
Then, I blocked him, deleted the conversation, and finalized the whole process in one swift move.
Within a minute, the phone rang insistently, as if it were desperate for
attention.
I figured it was Owen calling and didn’t bother to look at it.
The caller seemed intent on persisting, dialing three or four times
consecutively. Annoyed by the noise while resting with my eyes closed in the car, I blocked the number.

To my surprise, when I checked the phone, it wasn’t Owen or that bitch.
secretary.
Out of curiosity, I answered, only to be greeted by a busy tone–the caller had already hung up.
Probably just a wrong number, I thought, dismissing it.
I had more pressing matters which was to go home and draft a divorce agreement. I was going to divorce Owen.
The moment I walked in the door, Sarah’s nonstop text messages hit me before I even had a chance to shut it.
“Maya! Check out the trending topics on Instagram!
“Are you hiding a man from me?
“You’re married! If you’re going to do something like this, at least be discreet!
“You should’ve told me! I could help you plan it!”
I hadn’t even had a moment to relax, and these messages left me utterly
baffled.
Sometimes I think my best friend could use a spiritual advisor. She’s always so over–the–top.
Was there any news more scandalous than Owen, the CEO of a public company, having an affair with his secretary? Clueless, as always.
I clicked my tongue, nonchalantly trying to open Instagram…
But I couldn’t even log in because the app had completely crashed…”
Was it really that big of a deal? The last time it crashed was when a major

male celebrity announced his relationship. Intrigued, I texted Sarah.
“What’s happening? Instagram’s down for me. I can’t see a thing.”
She seemed to have a lot to share, as the “typing” indicator remained active for several minutes. I sent a question mark to prompt her. Sarah quickly sent over a screenshot.
When I opened it, I was so shocked that my mind went blank, and I almost lost my balance.
I had spoken too soon. There was indeed news more shocking than Owen’s cheating.
I reminded myself that I was pregnant and needed to stay calm.
Taking deep breaths, I sat down on the sofa and focused on Sarah’s lengthy screenshot.
The Heald Group, Isaac Heald.
“Missing Person Notice. Apologies for using public resources. If anyone. can identify the owner of this bracelet, please contact my assistant directly. A reward of 15,000 dollars will be offered. I still owe her 100 dollars. Contact number, +1511XXXX”
There were two photos attached.
One showed a fair wrist with a custom lucky ‘bracelet resting on a hotel king–sized bed.
The other depicted 100 dollars spread out on a nightstand….
I had spent countless hours in quiet prayer at church, hoping to bless that bracelet for Owen, but I never managed to actually give it to him.
As I tried to pull myself together, a serious realization dawned on me…
Chapter 1
The day I discovered Owen’s affair with his assistant, I drank until I blacked out.
Little did I know that the broke college kid I hooked up with in my drunken state was actually Isaac–the enigmatic CEO known only from magazines and news reports!
