How dare this d*mn woman hang up on him!
At that moment, Sebastian, the butler of the Parkers‘ old mansion, walked over.

Upon seeing him, Reynold ordered, “Sebastian, call Mrs. Parker and tell her that Grandma isn’t feeling well. She needs to come back immediately!”
Sebastian was taken aback. “But Mr. Parker, old Mrs. Parker already had the herbal meal Mrs. Parker prepared and went to bed. She’s perfectly fine.”
After a brief hesitation, Sebastian replied, “Mr. Parker, I don’t think we should lie to Mrs. Parker. After all, she’s been caring for you and the old Mrs. Parker for the past three years. She’s worked hard. Letting her have a night out to relax wouldn’t hurt, would it?”
Reynold said coldly, “Sebastian, will you make the call or not?”
Under the influence of Reynold’s glare, Sebastian quickly pulled out his phone. “Mr. Parker, I’ll make the call immediately!”
Reynold stood fuming, hands on his hips, his forehead throbbing.
This family was falling apart–no one seemed to take his words seriously anymore.
It’s all Grandma’s fault for pampering her! Look at how she’s turned out!
Half an hour later, Catherine rushed breathless into the Parkers‘ old mansion, “Grandma! Are you alright?”
She was halted in her tracks. The living room was eerily silent, cloaked in darkness with no lights on.
“Why isn’t the light on?”
She reached toward the wall, fumbling for the light switch.
But before she could touch it, a large hand shot out of the shadows. Their hand grabbed her slender wrist and pulled her forward. She gasped out of surprise, stumbling straight into a firm, warm chest.
Before she could react, he spun her around and pressed her against the wall with a rough shove.
She didn’t need to guess who it was. In the Parkers‘ old mansion, only one man would dare act like this.
Her hands pushed against his hard chest, trying to put distance between them. “Reynold, what are you doing?”
A low, cold laugh rumbled from him. “Reynold? So now you recognize me? Didn’t you pretend you didn’t know me earlier?”
Her eyes had adjusted to the darkness. As the faint glow of moonlight seeped in through the floor–to–ceiling window, she could finally make out his striking features. His cold, piercing gaze was locked onto hers, chilling her to the bone.
Catherine was battled. “Reynold, you’re mad just because I said I don’t know you? Apart from a few people in your circle, no one knows about our marriage. Do you want me to call myself Mrs. Parker, so you can be a jerk and Evelyn can be the mistress?”
He never knew she was so eloquent and sharp–witted!
Reynold grabbed her chin firmly. “You’re making such a grand speech. Is it because you’ve already found someone else?”
“Someone else? What are you talking about?“”
“Kevin!”
Catherine tensed slightly, realizing he had misinterpreted her relationship with Kevin.

She didn’t bother to explain. Instead, her lips curled into a faint grin. “Reynold, we agreed to mind our own business. You and Evelyn were grinding away at the bar, and I didn’t say anything. So why should you care about what happened between Kevin and me?”
She tried to push him away, wanting to leave.
But Reynold’s large hand gripped her delicate shoulder, forcefully pushing her back into the wall.
Her shoulder slammed into the wall with a dull ache.
Catherine’s beautiful features hardened, her expression icy with resolve. “Reynold, let me make this clear. I was kind to you before because I liked you, but that doesn’t give you the right to mistreat me. I don’t love you anymore!”
Despite her difficult childhood, Catherine had never lost the courage to love.
Whether it was Celia or Reynold, she had always loved them passionately, without hesitation.
Loving someone does not make a person weak or inferior.
And it definitely wasn’t an excuse for anyone to mistreat her.
Besides, she no longer loved him.
She no longer loved Reynold.
Reynold’s cold eyes lingered on her clear, calm gaze, a mocking curve tugging at his thin lips. “You really don’t have feelings for me anymore?”
“Yes, I–mmph!”
Before Catherine could finish, he dipped his head and captured her lips with sudden intensity.
They’d kissed before, but last time it had been in the shower–and she was the one who kissed him first.
This time, it was him who initiated it.
Catherine’s first instinct was to resist. She raised her hands to push him away. “Reynold, let me go!”
The moment she opened her mouth to speak, he seized the opportunity, prying past her teeth and claiming the space within.
His distinct scent flooded her senses–sharp and fresh, like the crisp air after rain.
She’d never been physically close to any man but him. When it came to intimacy, she was completely inexperienced.
Her inexperience left her body overly sensitive, and the fiery sensation of his lips and tongue sent heat rushing to her face, her heart pounding in her chest.
Her hands, which had been braced against his chest, slowly curled inward, clutching at the expensive fabric of his shirt. Her knees went weak, her legs buckling as she slowly slid downward.
