Chapter 24 The Race

Reynold clearly understood that women like Catherine, who possessed beauty but no real ability, were far from what he sought in a partner. The fleeting moments of desire he had for her were merely the instincts of an ordinary man.
Just then, his phone rang, shattering the silence with its pleasant chime. The name on the screen read Evelyn.
His tense expression softened, and he answered with a calm tone, “Eve.”
Evelyn’s lively voice bubbled through the receiver. “Reynold, get over to the bar quickly! Kevin is back in town today. Don’t tell me you forgot about his welcome party!”
Reynold massaged his forehead, realizing he truly had let it slip his mind.
Kevin Smith was coming back.
In Havendor, the Parkers and Smiths were considered the most prominent aristocrats, their strong friendship spanning generations. Because of this, he and Kevin had grown up side by side, more like brothers than mere childhood friends.
Kevin had arrived today, and Evelyn, Benedict, and Cindy were already waiting at the 1996 Bar.
Cindy’s bright and eager voice chimed in as well, “Reynold, come on, don’t keep us waiting!”

Cindy had always had a crush on Kevin, harboring dreams of one day becoming his wife. However, Kevin was notoriously hard to please, and few women ever managed to meet his lofty expectations.
Reynold replied curtly, “I’ll be there soon.”
He stood up, brushing off his thoughts. Why should he care if Catherine wanted to spend her time chasing after other men?
Why should he feel upset?
A simple girl from the countryside–what else was she capable of besides chasing after men? She was shallow and unimpressive, completely unworthy of comparison to Evelyn.
Let her waste her time with whomever she pleased.
That evening, a sleek Ferrari roared down the road, its engine growling with power and turning heads as it sped by.
In the passenger seat, Laura beamed, letting the cool night air brush against her face. “Cath, where did this car come from?” she asked with curiosity.
Catherine gripped the wheel, her delicate face was framed by oversized black sunglasses, and the wind whipped her long hair into a wild dance. “Reynold gave it to me,” she said nonchalantly.
Laura, sitting beside her, couldn’t help but soften her tone. For all her grievances against Reynold, the allure of wealth had dulled some of her resentment. “Reynold might be a total j*rk, but he’s undeniably generous–huge checks, luxury cars, villas -he hands them out like candy.”
Catherine smirked knowingly, her lips curving into a faint but amused grin.
Just then, a loud horn pierced the air, and another sports car sped up from behind, its sleek silhouette closing in fast.
Catherine glanced over, spotting a sleek silver Lamborghini, clearly a custom–modified model.
It wasn’t uncommon for young heirs from top–tier aristocratic families to indulge in racing and show off their passion for
customized cars.
The Lamborghini matched Catherine’s speed effortlessly, cruising alongside her. Behind the wheel sat an incredibly handsome man, his sharp features accentuated by a playful grin. He turned to Catherine, his eyes brimming with curiosity. ‘Hey, Little Fairy, how come I’ve never seen you around Havendor before? How about adding me on WhatsApp
