Reynold turned to leave. But just as he was about to step away, a small hand grabbed his shirt sleeve.
He glanced back and saw Catherine, drenched from head to toe. Her wet camisole dress clung to her body, outlining her graceful figure. Her eyes were red as she pulled him toward her, not letting go.
Reynold tried to pull his sleeve free, but Catherine held on firmly, her eyes even redder.
He wanted to speak, but before he could, Catherine threw herself into his arms, wrapping her arms around him tightly. “Don’t go. Please.”
Despite her maturity, she realized how much she feared being left alone.
She dreaded the thought of standing alone in a crowd.

The familiar title struck him like a blow. Only Evelyn had ever called him that, and it belonged only to the girl from back then. But wasn’t that girl Evelyn?
Reynold’s expression shifted instantly. “Evelyn, I have something urgent. I can’t come right now.”
He hung up, then turned to Catherine, his eyes hardening. “Who allowed you to call me Rey? Catherine, who exactly are you?”
Without a word, Catherine leaned forward and kissed him.
Her soft lips met his, carrying a sweet, intoxicating scent, and a mix of innocence and playful allure.
Reynold didn’t close his eyes, just stared at her, and she did the same, her eyes filled with emotion.
Suddenly, it hit him–her eyes were so similar to that girl’s eyes from years ago.
After kissing for a while, Catherine pulled back, sensing his lack of response.
She was about to walk away, but just then, Reynold’s arm tightened, pulling her back into his arms. The air between them shifted as he lowered his head and kissed her deeply.
Meanwhile, at the bar, Evelyn sat with her assistant. The assistant asked, “Eve, is Mr. Parker coming tonight?”
Evelyn frowned, sensing something was off. Reynold had sounded strange on the phone as if there was someone else with him.
She quickly dialed Benedict. “Is Reynold with you tonight?”
Benedict answered, “No, but he called me. It seems like a woman’s been drugged.
He paused, then added, “Could it be Catherine?”
Reynold had always kept his personal life free of scandal, with Evelyn being his only known relationship. But now, with Catherine in the picture, the situation was becoming obvious.
Evelyn clenched her fists as frustration boiled within her, realizing that Reynold was with Catherine.
However, her anger quickly turned into a calculated smile. Turning to her assistant, she said, “Bring me some drugs.”
The assistant blinked in confusion. “What kind of drugs?”

In the villa’s bathroom, Catherine felt her legs give way as the kiss left her breathless. She collapsed, but Reynold caught her, his strong arms steadying her fragile frame.
Her cheeks blushed. Before she could fully regain her composure, the chime of a video call interrupted. Reynold glanced at her briefly, then answered.
The screen displayed Evelyn seated at a bar, a glass of wine in front of her. Her bright smile didn’t mask her intentions as she asked, “Reynold, is Catherine there with you? Was she drugged?”
Reynold stayed silent, his expression unreadable.
Evelyn, unfazed, took a packet of powder, emptied it into her drink, and downed it without hesitation.
Reynold frowned. “Evelyn, what did you drink?”
Evelyn smiled with mischief. “An aphrodisiac.”
Catherine froze, stunned by what she’d just witnessed. She couldn’t believe Evelyn would go so far as to drug herself.
Reynold’s expression darkened with a mix of anger and disbelief. “Evelyn!”
Just then, a tall, attractive man approached Evelyn at the bar, his tone flirtatious. “Hey there, gorgeous. Can I buy you a drink?”
Without missing a beat, Evelyn pointed to Reynold on the call. “This is my boyfriend. But if he doesn’t show up within half an hour, you’ve got me for the night.”
The man raised an eyebrow, intrigued by her boldness.
Reynold’s expression turned icy. “Evelyn, what are you trying to do?”
Evelyn’s smile widened, her confidence radiating through the screen. “Reynold, you have to make a choice–between me and Catherine. You can’t have both.
“Reynold, you can only choose one woman.”
With those words, Evelyn ended the video call abruptly.
Reynold’s grip on the phone tightened, his knuckles turning white as fury flashed in his eyes.
Reynold, you can only have one woman.
Mom, you can only have one daughter.
The eerily similar words swirled in Catherine’s mind, lingering like an unshakable curse. The weight of those memories left her frozen, unable to move.
The warmth of Reynold’s embrace was gone–he had already stepped away.
Catherine raised her gaze to him, but he didn’t look back. Without hesitation, he shed his wet clothes and slipped into a clean shirt and trousers.
