Chapter 9 Answer Me
Evelyn felt a surge of hostility and jealousy.
Samuel pulled out his phone. “Mr. Parker, I’ve shared this junior’s WhatsApp with you. She’s also in Havendor. Please, as her senior, take good care of her when you can.”
Reynold nodded. “Sure.”
After Samuel left, Benedict nudged Reynold eagerly. “Reynold, hurry up and message this junior! I want to see what she looks like.”
Reynold opened his phone and clicked on the contact. The junior’s WhatsApp name was a single letter: C.
The profile background was blank and white.
Benedict tilted his head. “What does C stand for?”
Reynold didn’t know either. He sent a friend request, adding a note: “Reynold.”
The verification was still pending.
Benedict’s excitement grew. “Reynold, when she accepts, introduce her to me too. I admire her already!”
Evelyn, noticing their attention had shifted to this mysterious junior, grew visibly unhappy. At that moment, a sleek Rolls-Royce limousine pulled up. Reynold’s assistant, Brian Morris, was driving.
Evelyn quickly cut off the topic. “Reynold, the car’s here. Let’s go.”
Benedict waved. “Reynold, Evelyn, see you later.”

The Rolls-Royce glided smoothly through the city streets. In the silent, luxurious cabin, Brian glanced at the rearview mirror and asked respectfully, “Mr. Parker, where to?”
Reynold leaned back. “To the office.”
Evelyn looked at Reynold, his sharp features illuminated by the neon lights streaming through the polished windows. The cityscape painted him in the same mysterious, refined aura as a black-and-white film protagonist.
Her eyes filled with affection. “Reynold, what’s going on between you and Catherine? Don’t tell me you’re drawn to her now just because she looks better than before?”
Reynold shot her a glance, his casual tone carrying an edge of nonchalance. “She’s my wife. If something happened, it wouldn’t be unusual. Weren’t you the one who pushed her toward me in the first place?”
Evelyn stiffened. She knew he was still holding a grudge.
He blamed her for abandoning him three years ago after his accident, leaving him in a vegetative state while Catherine married him in her place.
Evelyn tried to defend herself. “Reynold, it was Catherine who insisted on marrying you. I had no choice but to let her take my place … ”
Reynold’s voice turned cold. “Do you even believe that yourself?”
Evelyn fell silent.
Biting her lower lip in frustration, she retorted, “Fine! I left you three years ago. If you can’t get over it, let’s just break up! If you don’t want me, then let me go!”
Turning to Brian, she snapped, “Stop the car!”
As she reached for the door handle, Reynold’s hand shot out, his firm grip pulling her back with undeniable strength. She stumbled, landing against his solid chest.
Above her, his voice carried a mix of helplessness and indulgence. “Evelyn, you always take advantage of how much I spoil you.”
A smile played on her lips, her heart swelling with sweetness. She relaxed in his arms, tilting her delicate face up to him. “I knew it. You can’t let me go. You’ll never leave me.”
Reynold, Havendor’s wealthiest man, was the epitome of power and sophistication, the embodiment of her ideal man.
But three years ago, when a car accident left him comatose and doctors declared he’d never wake again, she chose to leave, unwilling to waste her youth in a hopeless situation.
Catherine had stepped in as his bride, and against all odds, Reynold woke up during those three years—a miracle the doctors couldn’t explain. Evelyn sometimes wondered if Catherine had brought him luck.
Now, she was back, confident Reynold still loved her and wouldn’t let her go.
Reynold gazed at her with a faint smirk. “If it weren’t for what happened back then … do you think I’d still spoil you like this?”
The mention of what happened back then made Evelyn freeze, a flicker of guilt crossing her face.
Quickly, she changed the subject. “Have you slept with Catherine?”
Reynold’s eyes dropped slightly. “If not her, then who? You?”
She knew he hadn’t touched Catherine. She was just provoking him on purpose, enjoying their teasing banter.
His response had a flirtatious edge, the kind of charm only a mature man possessed—calculated, magnetic, and just the right amount of wickedness. His words alone made her blush.
She wanted to strip this aloof, restrained man of his clothes and see just how much desire he was hiding.
She suddenly straddled his lap, her arms looping around his neck as she leaned in, her lips grazing his. Her breath was warm and teasing. “Do you want to sleep with me?”
Understanding the situation, Brian tactfully raised the privacy partition between the front and back seats.
Reynold stared at her, silent but composed.
Evelyn, dressed in a red slip dress, had the fabric riding up due to her bold position. Her long, fair legs draped over his tailored black trousers, creating a tantalizing contrast.
She tightened her thighs around his narrow waist, her voice dripping with seduction. “Answer me. Do you want to?”
All he had to do was say yes, and she would give him everything right now.
