Chapter 8
The host was obvious a profession.

Clearly, Aveline’s scandal was the juicier story.
She immediately pressed me for details, so I had to follow her lead, telling the whole story. I mentioned how she had sought another man and made me take the fall for it. I also revealed how her son had beaten me, causing a miscarriage.
The public reaction was immediate.
“Beating his wife to miscarriage? How could anyone do something like that?”
“I knew this woman wasn’t good from the start. She has such a fierce look.”
“This is insane! Sleeping with her daughter–in–law’s underwear on? Unbelievable.”
Aveline panicked, trying to cover the camera with her hands.
Realizing she couldn’t win against the cameraman, she shifted her target to me.
“Renna, that is too much. First, your dad abuses his power to get my son imprisoned, and now you’re spreading rumors about me?”
I crossed my arms and replied with a cold laugher.
“Do you have any evidence that my dad abused his power?” I asked. “Let me remind you that making false accusations against a werewolf police can land you in prison. Everything you’re saying on camera can be used as evidence.”
Upon hearing this, Aveline seemed deflated.
She stopped attacking my father and, instead, began to act out, sitting on the ground and crying hysterically.
“Oh my Moon Goddess, this world is unbearable! Everything good is being twisted into bad!”
Since Aveline had invited the host for mediation, the host stuck to the role of peacemaker.
She asked me several questions about Dante.
After learning what Dante had done and how he still refused to sever our mate bond, the host’s sense of justice flared up.
“Renna, don’t worry, we’ll help you severed the mate bond.”
Aveline was stunned.
“Wait, you’re not here to help me get justice?“.
The host exchanged a look with the cameraman, who immediately turned off the camera.
He said to Aveline, “You’ve gone too far. Your son did something this monstrous, and instead of making amends, you’re actually playing the victim here?”
His words were right to the point.
I realized I had misunderstood the production team. They truly wanted to help resolve people’s problems.
With the host’s assistance, my reputation was quickly restored, and I was accepted back into my old pack.
Meanwhile, Aveline gained notoriety online.
But what shocked me next was that Xander stepped forward at this point.
He claimed to be in love with my mother–in–law and announced he was planning to sever his mate bond with his wife to marry her instead, making her his Luna.
After watching the video, I could only offer my respect to him.
The two of them managed to gain some fame, and their followers grew rapidly on social media.
Thanks to Ms. Montague’s help, I was finally able to sever my mate bond with Dante.
Dante was quickly sentenced to three years in prison.
When Dante learned his fate, he broke down in tears during the Alpha’s judgment. He said he regretted what he had done. Chapter 8

I slept with the wrong person. And on top of that be’s my boss.
Only he knew whether he truly regretted it.
Life eventually returned to normal.
I thought I would never hear from Dante again, but one day, my dad told me Dante had had an incident.
I asked him what had happened.
Apparently, the prisoners could watch TV, and the news report about me and Aveline had aired.
Soon, everyone in the prison knew why Dante was in jail.
In prison, prisoners who beat women were considered the lowest, so the other inmates often targeted him.
The methods they used were dirty, and the prison was filled with hardened criminals, making the situation even worse.
‘How bad was it?”
“It wasn’t too serious, just that he’s infertile now.”
Upon hearing this, I thought it wasn’t a big deal. After all, Dante had always believed he was incapable of having children.
Still, I couldn’t help but laugh.
Just after hearing about Dante’s situation, I saw another video from Aveline.
In it, she claimed that Xander had used her to make money, got her pregnant, and then ran off with his ex–wife once the child grew up.
I realized she hadn’t actually married Xander.
Many of those videos online were scripted.
No matter how much Aveline complained, Xander had already fled abroad and refused to comment on the matter.
The scandal spread, with some people blaming Xander, others blaming Aveline.
But most people were just relieved that these two were finally disappearing from the spotlight.
The next time I heard about Dante was two years later.
That morning I was heading to work, just stepped into the parking lot when he came straight at me.
For a second I thought my eyes were playing tricks–three years gone, and he’d withered to half his size, all hollowed out and ragged.
I spun around to run, but he caught me anyway.
“Renna.”
“Don’t hit me!”
When he touched me, a chill ran down my spine.
“Renna, I won’t hit you. Here, this is for you,”
To my surprise, Dante didn’t do anything violent. Instead, he handed me a card.
“What’s this supposed to mean?”
“This is compensation for you and the child. I wish you happiness.”
With that, Dante turned and left.
I stared at the card, unsure of what to make of it.
Two hours later, my dad called to tell me Dante had died.
After Dante was released from prison, he went home and found his mother’s child that looked just like Xander.
Dante had always believed Xander ruined his life, and when he saw the child, he learned the truth about the past three years.
In a fit of rage, he struck the child.
The one–year–old had his spine broken by Dante’s blow. Although the child didn’t die, he would be bedridden for the rest of his life.
Aveline had been hit while trying to protect the child and was now in the hospital taking care of him.

Dante initially didn’t call the police, claiming they had been robbed.
He sold his house and car, using half the money to pay for the child’s surgery, and the other half disappeared.
This morning, my dad and his team investigated Dante’s actions and were preparing to arrest him, but they found his body by the river.
After hanging up the phone, I stared at the card in my hand, a mess of emotions churning inside.
When I divorced Dante, I walked away with nothing–just wanted to sever the mate bond clean. Never expected he would grow a conscience on his deathbed and leave me this money.
In the end, I took it.
After all, this is what Dante owes me.
