Chapter 16
Rhea’s POV
“R… Rhea? You… You’re alive?” For a moment, I thought he might have been hallucinating because the said my name made my heart ache.
“Um… Do you have me mistaken for someone? I’m alive, I didn’t die.”

He blinked slowly, as if trying to make sense of reality. His brows furrowed, his lips parting like he wanted to say something, but
no words came out. Instead, his hand moved, weakly reaching toward me, almost hesitant, like he was afraid I would disappear if
he touched me. I caught it before he could strain himself, my fingers curling gently around his. His skin was clammy, fever-
warm, and yet the touch sent a shiver down my spine.
“You…” He started, but caught himself. Alaric closed his eyes and shook his head, groaning, “I’m sorry, I mistook you for someone else.” He apologised and looked away, “Why are you here?”
I narrowed my eyes, “Is that the first thing you say to the person that saved you?” I crossed my arms and huffed at him.
“You saved me?” He repeated.
“Yeah, that’s what I said.”
“How? Did you… Did you sleep with me?” 1
I blinked at him, then burst out laughing.
The sound was loud in the quiet room, and it made him flinch slightly, confusion flashing across his pale face.
“Seriously?” I said, wiping a tear from the corner of my eye, “You think I saved your life by sleeping with you? Are you delirious or just arrogant, Mr. Vale?”
A faint flush crept up his neck, and he muttered something under his breath, low, grumbling words that I couldn’t quite catch.
I leaned in a little, smirking, “What was that?”
He didn’t repeat it. He just scowled and looked away, stubborn as a mule.
Typical.
I shook my head, letting it go for now. Instead, I cocked an eyebrow and asked, “Okay, but seriously, how did you recognize me and even called out my name? You acted like you knew me when you woke up.”
At that, his entire body went still.
Frozen. For a beat, he just stared at the ceiling, jaw working like he was chewing over what to say.
Finally, he shifted his gaze back to me, guarded now, “I… heard the manager call your name yesterday while I was unconscious.”

He said, his voice carefully casual, “You also said your own name a lot so when I woke up… I just called you that.”
I studied him, not missing the slight flicker of unease behind his cool mask.
It was a lie.
Or maybe not a complete lie, but it wasn’t the full truth either. I could feel it in my bones. He knew me befor been from the engagement because as of this time, I hadn’t been told that I had an engagement with him.
But I didn’t push it.
“Right.” I said slowly, settling back onto my heels, “Lucky guess then.”

He gave a faint shrug, wincing at the movement, his eyes fluttering shut for a moment like even that small effort drained him.
“Anyway.” I said, softer now, “You don’t have to worry. Nothing happened between us. I just dragged your sorry ass into a bathtub, half drowned you in cold water, force–fed you medicine, and stayed up all night making sure you didn’t die.”
He opened one eye, regarding me almost curiously. There was something in his expression I couldn’t read, something that wasn’t
quite gratitude and wasn’t quite confusion either.
“You’re insane.” He muttered.
I grinned, “Yeah, well. Someone had to be.”
His lips twitched. Not quite a smile, but closer than I expected.
“Thank you.” He said after a long moment, voice rough and sincere.
“You’re welcome.” Though, I should have been the one telling you ‘thank you‘.
After making sure he was stable enough, and leaving strict instructions for him not to move around too much. I finally gathered
my things and left the room. The cool morning air kissed my skin as I walked to my car, easing some of the tension that had been
coiled tightly inside me since yesterday. I slipped into the driver’s seat and leaned back against the headrest, letting out a deep
breath.
What a crazy day.
Just as I was about to start the engine, my phone buzzed.
I glanced down. It was a message from the club’s manager.
Manager: Video footage attached.
Curious, I opened the message. The screen lit up with the video and the timestamp showed that it was from last night. I watched as the footage played. Ginny had actually ushered Kevin into room 6 like we had planned but since she was also feeling the effects of the drug, it wasn’t long before they did the deed and they didn’t even lock the doors.
The car was filled with erotic sounds and I watched the video till the end.

Chapter 16
“Nice. Caught in 4k.” But my amusement faded almost instantly. My mind circled back to Alaric. He said he recognized me
because he heard my name but the way he looked at me, the way he said my name, it was too raw. Too desperate.
It wasn’t the reaction of a stranger who just heard a name and attached it to a face.
No.
I stared at my reflection in the rearview mirror, my chest tightening. Alaric Vale had never seen me before in this life. We hadn’t
met yet. We weren’t supposed to know each other at all.
And yet…
He knew me
My heart pounded against my ribs, a wild, reckless thought crashing into my mind.
I gasped, hand flying to my mouth.
“Could it be that…” I whispered, feeling the blood drain from my face. My voice trembled, “Could it be that, like me, he also got
reborn?” Shock rippled through me, “No, that can’t be right. But… If I got reborn, who’s to say that someone else couldn’t have
done the same?” If Alaric had truly gotten reborn, then things were going to change.
