Chapter 7
The island wasn’t large. The area where the military was stationed was even smaller.
Lily and David didn’t seem to intentionally avoid people. Soon, various rumors spread around.
However, Kevin and I didn’t care about this. Kevin was busy with training and missions, and I didn’t want to remain idle either.
After discussing with Kevin, I obtained a proposal for collaboration with the military.
The base was planning to build a food processing plant on the island, using coconuts and various seafood from the island as raw materials.
This would not only increase revenue for the military but also provide additional income for the local islanders.
But this plan ran into trouble from the start.
I was initially confident, but the typhoon nearly destroyed all my efforts.
Looking at the wind–ravaged factory building before me, I prepared to clean up with the workers.

I’ve been through many major setbacks before and never lacked the courage to start over.
“Audrey, have you lost everything you invested?”
A mocking voice came from behind while I was busy working.
I turned around and, sure enough, saw Lily.
Unlike before, Lily had abandoned her previously modest appearance and was now wearing the most fashionable dress and high heels, adorned with jewelry and a watch.
But the typhoon had just passed, and the entire island was in chaos. I thought she must be struggling to walk dressed like that.
Noticing my appraising gaze, Lily became even more smug.
She said, “I was foolish before, thinking Kevin was reliable. Now I understand that when looking for a man, you need to find one with power and money.”
As she spoke, she actually twirled in front of me.
Lily continued, “Otherwise, women end up like you, married but still having to work.”
Seeing her smug expression, I sneered and pushed her to the ground.

I said, “Why don’t you learn your lesson? Do you think I don’t have the ability to teach you a lesson? If you want to live off men, that’s your business, but don’t tell me about it.
“Only someone spineless like you would think of depending on others to live.
“If I were you, I’d have hidden away in shame by now, but you have the nerve to come here and show off. You’re truly shameless.”
My merciless words left Lily pale with anger.
She said, “How dare you bully me! David won’t let you get away with this! This factory of yours will never succeed, and Kevin will be finished too!”
“Is that so? How do you plan to prevent this factory from being built?” A commanding voice suddenly came from behind us.
“General…” Lily trembled as she spoke.
I turned around to see that it was General George Cooper. He was now looking sternly at Lily.
Standing beside him were two people–Kevin and David.
George completely disregarded Lily’s current disheveled state and reprimanded her harshly, “Building a factory on the island is for the military and for the island’s residents. Why would you

say such things?
“What exactly is your relationship with David?”
As he spoke, he looked severely at David standing nearby.

David said, “General, we have no relationship whatsoever. I don’t know why she would mention me.”
Lily looked in disbelief at David, who had immediately distanced himself from her, and said, “David, how can you be so heartless? How can you say we have no relationship!”
