Oops! My Husband is the Father of My New StudeNT 3

Chapter 3

After hearing what Tessa said as she left, I figured Nathan probably wouldn’t be coming home tonight.

So I did all the things he usually hates.

I ordered pizza delivery, filled the couch with his most-despised junk food, and turned on the trashiest reality TV show I could find.

I tossed a handful of chips into my mouth, savoring every crunch.

God, what a miserable life I’d been living before.

Just as I was really getting into my freedom fest, I heard footsteps growing louder outside the door.

A sense of dread washed over me. I’d sent the housekeeper home early—it could only be Nathan.

The front door opened, and sure enough, there he was.

But strangely, he just glanced at the chaos I’d created in the living room, furrowed his brow slightly, and didn’t say a word.

He walked toward me, and that’s when I noticed what he was carrying.

It was dessert from my favorite bakery—the one that’s way across city. Usually, he’d just send the driver or housekeeper to pick things up.

He must be feeling guilty about his affair and trying to make it up to me.

“Looks like you’ve already eaten, so save this for a late-night snack,” he said.

I took the dessert box, and seeing he wasn’t upset, continued munching on my chips.

He sat down next to me, creating an awkward silence between us.

I held out my bag of chips, asking a question I already knew the answer to:

“Want some?”

As expected, Nathan shook his head.

Then, in a flash of inspiration, I fired a question that hit way too close to home.

“Nathan, what would you do if one of us cheated?”

He froze for a second, a flicker of discomfort crossing his face before he managed a small smile. “Well, that would definitely cross a line, but if you cheated, I’d probably forgive you. Though I’d keep you on a pretty tight leash afterward.”

“What about you?” I watched his face carefully, my tone half-joking, half-probing. “What if you were the one who cheated?”

“I wouldn’t cheat,” he stated, his gaze unwavering. I couldn’t detect a hint of deception.

There was no point pushing further, so I changed the subject to our upcoming anniversary.

I’ve never really cared much about our wedding anniversary, but Nathan always insisted it was a big deal. He’d arrange family gatherings with both sets of parents.

And there was never a shortage of flowers, money transfers, designer bags, and jewelry.

“Let’s do the usual—dinner with your parents, and then I’ll take you somewhere special afterward, just the two of us,” Nathan suggested.

Thinking this might be our last anniversary together, I agreed without hesitation.

Once I had solid proof, I could put divorce on the agenda. This dinner would be our farewell celebration.

Since that day, Tessa showed up every afternoon to pick up Aiden, but surprisingly, she didn’t try to start any drama with me. Even Nathan had been acting perfectly normal at home, not showing a single suspicious sign.

It was driving me crazy. When would I ever find the evidence I needed?

After thinking it through, I realized Tessa was my best shot.
