Seven days later, I went back to the home I had with William.
The house had been redecorated, with more pink towels in the bathroom, baby clothes drying on the balcony, and clothes specially for pregnant women thrown casually on the couch…
Everything was showing to me that the hostess of the house had changed.
I was packing up my things when William and Abril walked in.
The three of us looked at each other, somewhat awkwardly.
I looked at him. “It’s still my house. I can come back whenever I want.”
Then I looked over at Abril. “How does it feel to occupy my house? Not bad, right?”
“Audrey, you can be angry at me. Don’t aim at Abril. She is pregnant.”
I calmly pointed to my belly.
“I was pregnant with your babies once too. But my babies were killed by you, their dear father.”
Abril said, “William told me about it. See? He doesn’t love you that much.”
I smiled. Abril was the old me.
I was caught in William’s tender trap and fell under his spell.
Even if he hurt me, I was willing to love him unconditionally.
But what did I get in the end?
“William, I need to talk to you.”
I pointed to the doorway with my chin. “Please give us some privacy.”
William grabbed Abril’s arm. “It’s OK. Go downstairs and have a walk. We’ll be done soon.”
His tone was gentle. It was just like before when he’d held me in his arms and whispered his vow.
Abril glanced at me. She then picked up her keys and walked out the door.
“Let’s get a divorce.”
After Abril went out the door, I said to William.
The moment I said it, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief.

Chapter 10 Divorce
All the pressure I had was lifted. I had never been this easy.
Instead of sitting next to me like before, William sat across from me.
“I agree.”
The moment he said it, I knew my seven–year marriage life ended.
Love could disappear, but not property.
“You can have the house.”
William asked suspiciously, “So where do you live?”
I smiled at him. “You said neither of my kids were yours. So I’m gonna live with the father of my children.”
