“I can’t allow my children to have a violent father…”
My heartbeat fastened when I finished my words. I could clearly feel his slap.

Only then did William realize what I meant. He fell to his knees in front of me.
I was taken aback. William didn’t kneel when he proposed.
William began to slap himself.
One heavier and louder than the other…
I knew he was trying to get my sympathy. I was still a little moved.
I felt pain watching him beat himself up like that.
“Honey, I acted on impulse. I’m sorry.”
William pulled my hand over and punched himself in the face as hard as he could.
I tried to break free, but I failed.
“Honey, hit me. I’m sorry. I will never hit you again.”
I chose to be rational at the last minute. “What about Abril’s baby?”
William’s hand stopped.
“I… I will advise her to abort.”
His words completely softened my heart. William wanted to return to his family.
If that was the case, I would feel relieved.
The baby was the key to keeping our family intact.
I wanted my child to have a loving father.
Since then, William had been coming home earlier and earlier every day.
He bought me supplements in different ways, and he tried to fulfill whatever I asked for.
I became constantly dizzy, nauseous, and sleepy. William said they were pregnant reactions.
“Honey, what do you think of these clothes?”
In the late afternoon, I snuggled up to him while William picked out clothes for the baby.
“It’s too early, isn’t it? We don’t know the sexes yet.”
William said proudly, “That’s why I chose white. This color suits both boys and girls.”
Then he added, “No matter whether our baby is a boy or a girl, I will love it.”
I unconsciously rubbed my belly. “I haven’t gone to the hospital to confirm it yet. I’ll go to the hospital tomorrow.”

+15 Bonu
William laughed out loud. “There’s no need to confirm. You’re so young, and your period has been delayed for two months. There’s no way you’re going through menopause, right?”
He turned his gaze to my chest again. “Especially here… Not gonna lie.”
I smacked him lightly. “Silly, it depends on how old the baby is. There are so many things to do.”
After saying that, I was silent. William should have accompanied Abril to do all these processes.
There was no way he didn’t know. He was just playing dumb in front of me.
William and I made an appointment to see a doctor next week. Before the day arrived, Abril found me.
“What did you tell William?”
Her big eyes were teary. “He’s been cold to me since you left that day. Yesterday he said he wanted me to abort the baby.”
I glanced at her. “A child born out of wedlock will not be happy.”
“You’re bullshitting!”
Abril was a little hysterical. When she was angry, I could see some spots in the corners of her eyes.
“Your child won’t be happy. No, you won’t have any of your own!” She pointed her finger at me. “William said that you…”
“Abril,” I interrupted her coldly. “Watch your words.”
After saying that, I ignored Abril’s cries and left alone.
Maybe it was because I overslept during the day that I was sleepless at night.
William was sleeping beside me. I could hear him breathing evenly.
His phone suddenly lit up, the screen flickering.
I saw a lot of messages appearing on it. But the phone wasn’t ringing or vibrating.
I picked up the phone and saw the name “Mr. Drake“.
I sneered. It must be Abril.
I used my birthday and managed to unlock William’s phone.
Clicking the Line, I was right. It was indeed Abril.
Abril: [I checked. She’s not necessarily pregnant. It could be something else.]
Abril: [Honey, take her to do a checkup as soon as possible.]
Abril: [That’s our baby in my belly. Don’t forget our baby.]

Messages kept coming. All of them were to persuade William.
I set Abril’s message unread and put his phone down.
No one could step into my marriage, no one.
After a few days, William accompanied me to do a checkup.
I was a little emotional. It was Abril who had made him so attentive before.
The test results came out quickly. The doctor said I had a very low progesterone level.
“So I’m not pregnant?”
The doctor’s words hit me. My ears were shrill beeping.
“It can’t be. How can it be…”
William stood up straight away.
“After all that effort, I rejoiced too soon.”
Instead of waiting for me, he left the hospital on his own.
The doctor came back from outside with my test report.
“Where’s your family?”
I forced myself to be calm. “Just tell me why I’m experiencing those pregnant symptoms.”
The doctor became serious. “It’s better to have your family
here.”
