“But as soon as you heard Selena had drowned, you turned into some lovesick fool. It’s pathetic. If you loved her so much, why did you sleep with me in the first place? Don’t pretend you didn’t enjoy it. Don’t pretend that you weren’t obsessed with my body!
“You made me bear you a pup, and now you’re just throwing me away? How is that fair?”
Her gaze became maliciously piercing. “You once whispered to me that you’d live and die by my side. I believed you. You can’t betray both Selena and me. That would make you a monster, wouldn’t it?”
By then, Eugene finally realized something was wrong. He tried to stand, but his limbs grew heavy.
Kristy had drugged the wine.

His vision blurred as he saw Kristy laughing madly, pushing him down onto the bed beside their child.
She lit the gas she had placed around the room earlier. Flames broke out instantly, filling the space with the acrid scent of things being burned.
“Don’t be afraid, Eugene,” Kristy cackled, her voice crazed. “It’s just some wolfsbane. I paid a fortune for it, you know? I promise it won’t hurt for long. Now, we can finally be together forever. The three of us…
“Everyone in the pack already knows about our disgrace. My parents kicked me out, and I have no way back. This is all your fault, Eugene. You were indecisive. You were cruel. This ending is exactly what you deserve!”
Eugene’s consciousness faded.
The last thing he saw was Kristy stripping and lying down beside him. She wrapped herself around him tightly.
The flames surged and engulfed the entire room in no time. Alpha Eugene and his sister–in–law died in the same fire, and their bodies were found entwined in a scandalous position.
The shameful story spread like wildfire throughout the entire pack.
When I heard the news in the neutral territory, six months had already passed.
By then, my restaurant business had grown so much that I decided to rent the building next door and open a tavern.
Customers flooded in daily. Of course, some were curious about my past.
I simply smiled and said, “My true mate cheated on me. So, I rejected him. Now, I run a business and support myself.”
People here were honest, kind, and open–minded. They respected those who lived by the work of their own hands. No one looked down on me. They admired how well I ran my business.
Within less than a year, more than ten suitors tried to pursue me.
However, I turned them all down.
Living alone wasn’t bad at all. I even started thinking that in a few years, I might adopt a few sweet pups and raise them myself. I’d take care of their education and nurture them to grow up strong.
That kind of life could be just as beautiful in its own way.
As for everything in the past… It had long since scattered with the wind, leaving no trace behind.
