I replied icily, “Eugene, I’m doing just fine. I’ve built a life where I can support myself. I don’t need to rely on you anymore. No
one gossips about me around here. I no longer feel hurt seeing you with another woman. I don’t need to suffer for not pleasing
your mother.
“I’m tired of that toxic world and all its games. More importantly, you betrayed me. No matter how much you try to make up
it, you’re no longer the man I once loved.
“Every time I see you, I remember you and Kristy together. I feel disgusted. I’ve already used a magic potion to break our true
mate bond. We’ll never be true mates again.”
I pulled the severance letter from my pocket and handed it to him.

“This is the severance letter I wrote. It states that I am officially no longer your mate. You’re free to choose any she–wolf as your Luna. From this moment on, we’re done. Let’s never see each other again, okay?”
Eugene’s hand trembled. He refused to take the letter, and it fluttered to the ground like a falling leaf.
He stood frozen for a long time. Then, he covered his face as his tears poured down like rain.
The once–proud Alpha had finally lost the person he loved most.
When Eugene returned to the pack, he found Kristy at his office door. She was holding the pup and making a scene.
As soon as she saw him, she threw herself at him.
She cried, “Eugene! You’re back! Where did you go? I couldn’t find you anywhere!”
Eugene looked at her with cold eyes. “Get out of my way. Why are you here? Didn’t I already say that you and the pup have nothing to do with me anymore?”
Kristy shrieked, “He’s your son! How can he have nothing to do with you? You said he’d inherit the Nightwind pack and that he’d be the next Alpha! Have you forgotten? You think you can make Selena the Luna if she comes back? Don’t kid yourself! I’m the only Luna of the Nightwind pack!
“If you dare disown your pup, I’ll hang myself with him at the gates!”
Grace began pounding her chest and exclaiming in outrage, “What’s wrong with Kristy? Why must you be obsessed with Selena? You’re going to drive me to my grave!
“When we picked up Selena, she was filthy and reeked of who–knows–what! Who knows what diseases that Omega carried? I’ve hated her since she was a pup, yet you’re so obsessed!
“I know what it is. She must’ve cast a spell on you! That witch drove out Kristy, and now the pack has no heir. She’s going to destroy us! She’s evil, Eugene!”
