“You’re completely insane!” Eugene exclaimed.
He stared at Kristy’s twisted expression. Now, he was finally seeing her true colors for the first time.
“Do whatever you want, but you’re not living in Selena’s house. If you refuse to move after the pup is born, I’ll have the guards
throw you out myself.”
With that, he turned and walked away without looking back.
What I didn’t expect was that Eugene used every means possible to find me.
One day, when I opened the door of my restaurant, I saw him standing outside.
I froze upon seeing him.
His eyes were bloodshot as he staggered forward.
He grabbed my hand tightly and said wistfully, “Selena, I knew you weren’t dead. You’re alive… And I finally found you! Please come home with me.”
I forcefully pulled my hand away and took a step back. “Alpha Eugene, you already have a mate. Why are you still bothering me?”
He stepped closer, his gaze burning. “I’ve never had another mate. From beginning to end, you have always been my one and only.”
I looked at him with bitter mockery. “Kristy is pregnant with your pup. Doesn’t that make her your mate? How high is your standard for another wolf to be your mate? You once swore you’d only ever love me, but you’ve broken that vow. So, you’re not worthy of my heart.
“You already betrayed that promise. Therefore, I’m no longer your true mate. Leave.”
I turned to close the door, but he suddenly reached out to stop me. “Selena, I’m sorry for everything. When I heard you’d drowned, it nearly killed me. That’s when I realized that I can’t lose you!
“I know I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but I’m begging you… Give me a chance to make things right. I’ve already made things clear with Kristy. I won’t be involved with her again. Once the pup is born, he’ll be made my brother’s son. She will never step foot in the Nightwind pack again.
“There will only ever be one Luna in the Nightwind pack. And that’s you, Selena. I’ve been waiting for you to come back.”
I laughed coldly inside. Love that came too late was worth less than dirt.
A mate like this was no longer someone I wanted.
