Chapter 138
“Oh, by the way, how’s the handover with Brighton Group going?”
“It’s going well. Their boss is easy to work with,” Stellar answered honestly.
“Their boss?“!
Claude raised an eyebrow in surprise.
“I remember hearing that their CEO is quite the enigma. He rarely makes public appearances–it’s always his acting director,
Shane Howe, handling things.
You actually met him? Rumor has it he’s sharp–eyed, incredibly selective, and hard to please. And you think he’s easy to work
with?”
Stellar blinked.
Was Stephen just going easy on her because she was his junior?
She wasn’t sure how to explain it to her uncle before he nodded to himself and carried on.
“Well, makes sense. Our Stellar is so capable and outstanding–who wouldn’t treat you with kindness?”
As far as he was concerned, the whole world should acknowledge his niece’s brilliance.
Even Stellar felt embarrassed hearing him boast so openly.
“Alright, Uncle Claude, stop hyping me up like a market vendor. I’m heading upstairs. We’ll talk later tonight.“.
With that, she hurried upstairs and placed the gift boxes in her room.
Just then, her phone vibrated with a message notification.
Picking it up, she saw that it was from Stephen.
“The symposium starts tomorrow at 2 PM. Will you be free to attend?”
Her earlier awkwardness vanished instantly.
Seeing the message, she quickly typed out a reply.
“Yes! Do I need to prepare anything?”
Moments later, Stephen sent over two documents.
“You can review these first.”
Without hesitation, Stellar responded with a sticker of a happy rabbit holding its cheeks in delight.

A few seconds passed.
Then, to her shock, Stephen actually replied with a sticker of a hand patting a rabbit’s head.
Stellar w was shocked.
Her eyes widened in surprise.
It was just a simple, cute sticker.
But for some reason, an image popped into her head–Stephen using his hand to ruffle her hair.
Her face grew even hotter.
Without thinking, she dove under the covers, curling herself into a ball.
She had to be sick.
That was the only explanation to why else she would be looking forward to something so ridiculous.
The next day, their research group happened to wrap up a project phase, giving Stellar the perfect excuse to take the day off and
stay home to review the symposium materials.
By 1:30 p.m., she was already dressed in a smart blazer, her hair neatly pinned up for a change, secured with an elegant hairpin.
With everything in place, she headed out the door.
Stephen was already waiting outside, leaning casually against his car.
Dressed in a tailored suit that perfectly framed his broad shoulders and narrow waist, he exuded an effortless charm.
His legs were slightly bent, arms crossed over his chest, his relaxed posture carrying a hint of lazy confidence–undeniably
striking.
For a moment, Stellar couldn’t help but pause to take in the sight.
She had expected to feel awkward, unsure of how to break the ice, but somehow, everything felt perfectly natural.
She smiled and greeted him warmly.
“Hope I didn’t keep you waiting, Senior. Let’s go!”
Stephen simply turned and opened the car door for her.
Upstairs.
Claude had been up all night in a marathon of back–to–back international meetings, only managing to fall asleep at four in the
morning.

Now freshly awake, he pulled open the curtains just in time to see Stellar getting into a young man’s car.
His sharp eyes narrowed instantly.
He tried to get a better look, but before he could catch the guy’s full face, the car door shut, and within seconds, they drove away.
Something about the man’s frame and profile looked oddly familiar…
But he couldn’t quite place it.
Frowning, Claude hurried downstairs and immediately spotted Mary in the living room.
“Mary, did you see the guy who just picked up Stellar? Who is he? Where is he taking her? Don’t tell me he’s trying to pursue
her?”
Where the hell had this kid come from?
He hadn’t been around for a little while, and already, some punk was sniffing around his niece.
Percy had already driven him half–mad–if another useless man came along, Stellar wouldn’t be able to handle another
heartbreak.
