Chapter 117
Stellar frowned slightly.
What was he doing here?
Not far away, Percy had already spotted her.
Holding a bouquet of bright red roses, he strode toward her with purpose.
“Stellar, these are for you. I sincerely apologize for what happened yesterday.”
His tone was gentle, as if he were making some grand romantic gesture.
“I also have something important to tell you. I’ve broken off my engagement with the Harlow family.
“There’s nothing standing between us anymore. We can start over. This time, I promise I’ll treat you right.”
“So, let’s put the past behind us, okay?”
Stellar stared at the man in front of her, listening to his self–serving speech, and felt nothing but disgust.
“And why
“And why would I want to be with you?”
“Stellar, stop being stubborn,” Percy sighed, as if speaking to a child throwing a tantrum.
“I know why you broke up with me back then. But I’ve thought it through. What happened to you wasn’t your fault. You didn’t
choose it.
“I don’t mind that you’re tainted, so there’s no need for you to feel ashamed. No matter what, I’m willing to accept you.”
He actually believed he was being generous, that Stellar should be grateful for his so–called “acceptance.”
Stellar let out a short laugh, utterly speechless.
“Percy Moore, what makes you think you have the right to say that to me? You don’t mind me?
“Well, I mind you and find you disgusting. Why would I ever want something that’s already been touched by Yvonne?”
She sneered, her eyes filled with disdain.
Take:
a good look at yourself. In terms of looks, education, status–what exactly makes you think you’re worthy of me?”
Her voice was cold, cutting straight to the bone.
“The only reason I even gave you the time of day back then was because you once pulled me out of the rain and saved me.
“But I’ve already more than repaid that debt with the deals I secured for Moore Enterprises over the years.
“So do me a favor. Stay as far away from me as possible. I don’t want to see you. You disgust me.”

Percy’s eyes widened in disbelief.
He refused to believe she could truly be so heartless toward him.
Did she really not care about their past at all?
His expression darkened, but as if remembering something, he quickly composed himself and pulled a small gift box from the bouquet, opening it in front of her.
“Stellar, how can you say that about me? I was forced to get engaged with Yvonne! I had no choice! Nothing ever happened
between us, so why can’t you just forgive me?”
He lifted the small gift box, revealing a pair of delicate earrings.
“I picked these out just for you. The design is your favorite gemstone pattern. It’s my way of making it up to you. I really want us
to start over…”
Stellar barely spared them a glance before cutting him off coldly.
“I’m allergic to silver. Take your cheap sincerity and get lost.”
Percy choked on his words, completely stunned.
As Stellar brushed past him, about to leave, he panicked and grabbed her wrist.
“Stellar, have you really become this shallow? Just because you’re the Rivers family’s heiress now, you think you’re above
everyone else?
“Don’t forget that I took you in for years. You belong to me. You’ll never escape me in this lifetime.”
“Let go.”
Her voice was icy.
“I won’t. I never agreed to break up with you. And let’s be honest. After what you’ve been through, do you really think anyone else would want you?”
“You better think wisely and just come back to me.”
At those words, Stellar’s expression turned glacial.
She had initially held back, considering they were at the research institute and not wanting to make a scene.
But if he was determined to humiliate himself, she wasn’t about to stop him.
She flexed her fingers, preparing to make him regret ever touching her.
But just as she was about to act, a deep, smooth voice interrupted.
“Who says no one wants her?”

Both of them turned at the sound.
Stephen strode toward them with effortless confidence, his long legs closing the distance in a few easy steps.
With a flick of his wrist, he pried Percy’s hand away and positioned himself beside Stellar.
Then, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, he took her hand in his.
“Now, I’m Stellar’s boyfriend. Are you planning to fight me for her?”
The warmth of his palm sent a subtle yet undeniable current through her, a tingling sensation spreading from her fingertips to
every inch of her body.
Stellar’s breath hitched, her pulse slightly unsteady.
