“If you won’t agree, then we’ll get a divorce. Let’s see if a used woman like you can still find someone decent after that,” he
threatened.
I scoffed. How had I never noticed how disgusting Quintus truly was?
Not only was he unfaithful, but he had no respect for women. He called me a “used woman” as if I were something disposable.
I let out a low, mocking laugh. “Divorce? I’d love that.”
Quintus looked at me in shock. “What did you just say? You want a divorce? And you’re happy about it?”
I gave him a calm nod.
His face twisted in anger. “How dare you ask for a divorce? You’re so mediocre. It’s a miracle that you even got to marry me. If anyone should ask for a divorce, it should be me! How dare you bring it up?”
For years, he called me “average” or “mediocre“.
Whenever we drove past another woman, his eyes would wander.
One of his friends would joke, “Better watch out, or your wife’s going to get jealous and punish you.”
He would laugh loudly and say, “That’s not my fault! Blame her for being built like that and having bad skin. All men love beauty. Why should I be punished for it?”
If I got upset, he would dismiss me by saying. “It was just a joke. If you’re mad, that’s your problem. People need to joke around at
social events. You need to lighten up if you want to fit in.”
For years, I had been the fool, being the butt of the joke.
Then one day, I happened to see him with Vanessa at a business event. She was draped over his arm, practically melting into him.
He looked down at her with such tenderness, making sure she wasn’t too drunk.
A friend of his saw me coming to pick him up and nudged him.
Yet, he simply smiled and said, “It’s fine. My wife is very understanding.”
I had been so understanding that I stood by and watched my husband openly love another woman.
I had thought that if I was patient enough, he would eventually come back to me.
In the end, I lost my child, and he lost his future.
His so–called true love had led to our destruction, yet he still refused to see the truth and tried to put the blame on me.
