After that conversation, Nicole didn’t see Tristan again for several days.
Nicole thought Tristan had finally given up and left quietly.
Winters here were far too cold, so she decided to return to Merriton. She didn’t want to risk Tristan finding her again one day.
Unbeknownst to her, Tristan hadn’t gone back to his home country. Instead, he had purchased a house near her coffee shop, silently keeping watch over her from the shadows.
Nicole remained completely unaware of his presence.
That was, until one day, Tristan received a call from his assistant.
“Mr. Ford, Miss Evans has left the entertainment industry.”
Tristan barely lifted his eyelids, his voice weak. “Haven’t I told you? I don’t want to hear about her anymore.”
“But, Mr. Ford, my people found out that she just boarded a flight to Sutherland. She somehow learned about your whereabouts
and bought a ticket to follow you.”
“Mr. Ford, I’m saying you need to be cautious. Since Miss Evans lost the baby, her emotions have been highly unstable. The
doctor mentioned she’s dealing with mental health issues and might act unpredictably, even dangerously. If you’ve reunited with
Mrs. Ford, you both need to be on your guard.‘
“Understood.”
Tristan hung up, his brows furrowing deeply.
Lisa was like a shadow that refused to fade.
She had even managed to track him here.
If she dared to hurt Nicole, she’d have no one but herself to blame for what he’d do in return.
That morning, Tristan received a notification that Lisa was scheduled to arrive later in the day. Determined to intercept her, he headed to the airport early, hoping to turn her away. But Lisa was cunning, and despite his efforts, she managed to slip past him.
At the coffee shop, it was another busy day. As the evening fell and the last customer left, Nicole began her routine of cleaning up
and washing dishes.
She planned to leave this place tomorrow, entrusting the coffee shop to a reliable employee to manage in her absence.
After turning off the lights in the front area, the wind chime above the café door tinkled softly.
Without looking up, Nicole continued washing dishes and said, “Sorry, we’re closed for the day. Please come back tomorrow.”
No response came from behind her, nor did she hear the sound of the door closing
Nicole set down the dish she was holding and turned to glance over her shoulder.

intense, unblinking stare.
