Just as he was about to release his grip, Lisa appeared.
She grabbed Tristan, her voice trembling with panic. “Don’t do this, Tristan! Calm down!”
“Let me go! I have to go down there and find Nicky! She can’t swim! She’s all alone down there, terrified. I need to get to her! I
have to find her!”
The raging waters below mirrored the anguish in Tristan’s bloodshot eyes.
ter how much he thrashed and fought, Lisa held onto him with all her strength.

“Don’t be foolish, Tristan! Nicole jumped yesterday! She’s already gone! She’s dead!”
“Get out of my way!” Tristan shoved her hard.
“Nicky, I’m coming to you!”
He lunged toward the railing again, but just as he was about to leap, the police intervened, pulling him to safety.
Though the situation seemed hopeless, one officer tried to calm Tristan with a sliver of optimism.
“Mr. Ford, please calm down! Mrs. Ford’s body hasn’t been recovered yet. There’s still a chance she might be alive. If something happens to you, who will be left to keep searching for her?”
The officer’s words seemed to reach Tristan, and he stopped struggling, collapsing onto the ground in utter defeat. His usually composed demeanor was replaced with a broken, disheveled man.
Lisa crouched beside him, tentatively reaching out to pull him up.
“Aren’t you Lisa Evans?” one of the officers suddenly asked, stopping her in her tracks. “Do you know anything about Mrs. Ford jumping into the river?”
Lisa’s heart skipped a beat, but she quickly shook her head. “I saw it on the news, that’s all. Why?”
“Is that so? What I meant to ask is–were you there when it happened?”
The officer pulled out a photo on his phone and held it up to Lisa. “Is this you in the picture?”
Lisa’s face paled as she looked at the photo, her panic barely concealed.
“It just… looks like me,”
Tristan’s sharp eyes caught the hesitation in her expression. Snatching the phone from the officer, he stared at the image. The moment he saw it, a fiery rage exploded within him.
“Answer me! Were you here yesterday when Nicky jumped off the bridge?”

“I don’t know!” Lisa sobbed, shaking her head frantically as tears spilled down her cheeks. “I don’t know anything! She’s the one
who asked me to meet her here. I’d barely arrived when she told me a few things and then climbed the railing. I tried to stop her, I
