The vase shattered at Peter’s feet, sending shards flying everywhere. The impact made his legs give out, and he collapsed to his knees with a thud. Meanwhile, Nancy and Jason trembled in fear, not daring to make a sound.
Grandma pointed at Peter and turned to me, declaring, “Rissa, let me make this clear–you’re in charge of this family now! Anyone who dares to bully you will answer to me!”
She turned to Nancy with a frosty look in her eyes. “Especially you! Since when did you have the right to make rules in this family?”
I looked at Grandma with mixed emotions, knowing she was a victim too. She had lost her daughter early and had been deceived
by this ungrateful traitor for so many years. I had only understood everything right before I had died in my previous life.
I pulled a document from my bag and handed it to Grandma. Her hands shook as she opened it, her expression shifting from shock to rage and finally to deep grief.
She hurled the papers at Peter’s face, screaming, “Peter, how dare you deceive my precious girl!”
Peter scrambled to pick up the documents, quickly scanning them as all color drained from his face. It was the first thing I had done after my rebirth–a DNA test that proved without doubt his parental relationship with Nancy.
“H–How did you find out?” Peter pointed at me, his voice trembling with terror in his eyes.
Grandma jumped to her feet, striking her cane against the floor. She roared, “Tanya only married you because she thought you were an honest man and that you’d be good to Rissa!”
She continued, “She felt it wasn’t fair to you that she had a daughter, so she accepted your son into our home! She was even good
to him, wasn’t she?
“You both agreed to only have one child each before marriage! But you, you heartless bastard–you deceived Tanya! She never would’ve married you if she’d known about your daughter!”
When Nancy saw they had been exposed, she decided to go all in, shrieking, “So what? Dad worked hard for the Holmes family! Since they were married, I’m their child too! What’s wrong with that?”
Jason stepped forward, shielding them both with an entitled expression. “You said it yourself–Mom was good to me, so what does it matter whether I’m her biological child or not? I’m a Holmes now, and Holmes Group will be mine anyway!”
