Chapter 5
Vanessa let out a sharp scream and shrank behind Quintus, while he flinched at the sight of the urn.
“Giselle! What the hell are you doing?” he snapped.
I scoffed and took a step closer. “Did you even think about our child when you got together with this murderer?”
“What child? Giselle, you’re insane!” Quintus shouted.
Vanessa peeked out from behind him and whispered, “That’s right. You can’t just accuse me like that.‘
The reporters immediately pointed their microphones at me.
“Miss, could you explain the situation regarding the child and your relationship with Mr. Ford?”

I had anticipated that Vanessa would continue to play innocent, so I came prepared with evidence. Facing the cameras, I pulled
out the pregnancy test results and my marriage certificate with Quintus.
“Quintus and I are legally married, and of course, the child is ours.”
Before the cameras could capture everything, Quintus snatched the documents from my hands.
His face paled with shock. “You were pregnant?” he asked.
“Yes, I was pregnant,” I replied firmly. “When you left me to rescue Vanessa during the earthquake, I was already pregnant.”
I gritted my teeth and continued, “And the woman you risked your life to save murdered our child.”
At these words, the reporters immediately turned to Vanessa.
“Ms. Lincoln, is what she said true?”
“So, Mr. Ford was already married? Doesn’t that make you the third party in this relationship?”
Vanessa’s eyes filled with tears. She clutched Quintus’s sleeve and stammered, “No, I didn’t. It wasn’t me! Quintus, you have to
believe me!”
Quintus frowned and fell silent for a moment.
Then, he pulled Vanessa into his arms, shielding her. “Enough! Don’t speak without proof!”
I couldn’t believe it. Even after knowing I was pregnant, Quintus still chose to stand by Vanessa’s side.
“Giselle, you can’t just accuse me without proof,” Vanessa said.
“Yeah, Miss. You can’t just say things without evidence,” someone chimed in.
The reporters began whispering amongst themselves.

Amidst the noise, a familiar voice rang out from behind me. I turned to see the nurse who had been so kind to me at the hospital.
She stepped forward, pulling out her phone.
The screen displayed surveillance footage.
Suddenly, it hit me. On the day I went to find Vanessa, the door hadn’t been closed properly, and the hospital’s hallway cameras
had caught everything clearly.
“No! That’s not how it happened!”
Vanessa lunged at the nurse, trying to snatch the phone from her hands. However, the nurse shoved her to the ground.
“Who would’ve thought that a so–called animal rescue influencer could be this cruel in private?”
“Exactly. You never really know someone’s true nature.”
“For all we know, those poor animals in her videos might have suffered even worse off–camera.”
The reporters criticized her harshly. A few of them even started cursing her outright.
“She destroyed a family and killed an innocent child. A woman this shameless will get what’s coming to her!”
“Karma is real. She deserves to rot in hell!”
Yet, Quintus still tried to defend Vanessa despite the embarrassment. “This has to be a misunderstanding. Nessa isn’t like that.”
The nurse scoffed. “Birds of a feather flock together. Scum like you will get what you deserve too.”

She paused, then cleared her throat. “I was on the rescue team that day during the earthquake. This man knew that his wife had a blood clotting disorder, yet he still gave the emergency treatment slot to his mistress.”
Quintus‘ expression darkened. He lost all composure and lunged at her.
“Shut the hell up!”
Before I could intervene, a group of furious reporters surrounded him.
“What, you can’t handle the truth?”
“Perhaps he has a history of abuse too!”
Quintus‘ face darkened as he turned to me.. “Giselle, are you just going to stand there? Are you happy now?”
I met his gaze, then smiled. “A real man owns up to his actions.”
He was furious. “You bitch! This is all your fault! You’ve ruined everything! If you don’t clear this up right now, I’m divorcing
you!”

I laughed. “Quintus, have some dignity. Stop fooling yourself. Have you forgotten this interview is live?”

At that, Quintus completely snapped. He thrashed and shouted, trying to reach me, but the swarm of reporters blocked his path.
“Mr. Ford, how do you respond to the evidence your wife just presented?”
“Yes, Mr. Ford, please explain yourself.”
With cameras flashing and microphones shoved in their faces, Quintus and Vanessa were trapped in a storm of media scrutiny.
Their carefully crafted personas were in shambles.
Satisfied, I smirked and walked away with the nurse.
