Chapter 22
Tessa’s expression hardened, and her jaw clenched. Ethan was the one who had stolen her corneas and handed them to Charlotte.
He would go to any lengths for her!
“Oh, and do you know why your medical records disappeared from the hospital?” Charlotte asked, her voice thick with implication.
Tessa whipped around to face her. “You did that?”
She remembered opening up to Ethan about her eye condition, only for him to accuse her of lying
Charlotte smiled. “It wasn’t me, of course. I don’t have the kind of pull to wipe your medical records from the hospital. Only Ethan could manage something like that.”
Her voice dripped with feigned sympathy as she continued, “You gave him your whole heart, and this is how he repays you. How pathetic. He knew about your condition. But he just didn’t care.
“And as for deleting your records? He didn’t want Mr. Ziegler Senior digging into uncomfortable questions later. You’re so smart. How did you miss it?”
“Are you serious?” Tessa’s mouth filled with the metallic tang of blood, her eyes burning crimson.
Charlotte clicked her tongue in mock pity. “Of course. Do you really think I could’ve pulled that off without Ethan?”
She laughed, savoring Tessa’s furious glare. “Oh, and one more thing. Ethan never wanted you at this birthday party. He only agreed to avoid letting Mr. Ziegler Senior down.
“But now
y that I’m here, you have no reason to stay. He doesn’t want to see you. That’s why he sent me to tell you to leave.”
Tessa sneered. “Is Ethan upstairs? I’ll ask him myself then!”
As she moved toward the stairs, Charlotte stepped in her way, arching a brow, her smile cold. “Why bother? What’s the point of begging for answers from a man who couldn’t care less?
“Isn’t that just pathetic? I almost pity you. And quit bringing Mr. Ziegler Senior into every little thing. Ethan’s sick of it. Got it?” Tessa was furious. Her anger was so fierce that she could have ripped Charlotte’s face off.
How could Ethan humiliate her like this? She wasn’t clinging to him. She had already demanded a divorce. She didn’t understand what his problem was.
“Then tell him to sign the divorce agreement! 1, Tessa Langford, don’t force myself where I’m not wanted. If he hates me that much, he should be thrilled to be rid of me.”
She shot Charlotte one last icy glare before turning on her heel.
Charlotte watched her go and laughed mockingly. Then, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen to see that it was Frhan mallina

and picked up immediately.
“Ethan? Yeah, I’m here. I talked to Ms. Langford, but she told me to tell you-”
Ethan’s voice came from behind her. “Tell me what?”
Charlotte turned to find him walking toward her. She lowered her phone.
“Ethan, you’re here already.”
His brow furrowed. “What did she say?”
“Well, Ms. Langford said that she loathes you. She wants you to stop convincing Mr. Ziegler Senior to drag her to these events.
She never had any interest in coming. She only agreed to avoid causing him trouble.”
Charlotte caught the dark look on Ethan’s face and added quietly, “She told me that she never wanted to be here in the first
place.”
